Ok...Thats just disturbing. If I had an erectile disorder, I would never have had that metal plates and springs inserted...It's just unnerving to think about. I think the guy deserved the $400,000.

And I don't think, save in the occasion that the man be able to prove that it was a faulty implant, that the company should have to pay anything. He most likely damaged the implant doing what it was intended for, and is taking money that he doesn't deserve. You do have to feel bad that he can't get it removed, though.

Thats a possibility, but the product was probably used by thousands of other men and they didn't have that problem.

Aren't there risks involved with every surgery, specifically those intended for this purpose, and especially if you're on the older side. This is quite ridiculous. Besides, metal springs are hardly reliable. You'd be an idiot to have this procedure done, let alone complain when things go south.

Anyway, poor fella, that must be quite a painful and embarassing situation. Must've been quite desperate to have this stuff put in his genitals, and then finally when he thinks 'alright, I can get back to it', it won't go away and he can't get it removed. He had earlier been awarded $750,000 I see and it was ruled excessive, so $400,000 was the compensation he got at the end of the day. Fair enough then.

Like tornRED said, the product would've been used by a lot of other people without problem.

Few things - The guy had the procedure long before the days of ED drugs. A surgical implant was his only choice.

I don't find the man's poor situation funny, the thing that I was laughing at for 5 minutes before I read the article, was that the headline on CNN.com was 'Man wins 400K for 10-year erection' and i was just thinking, 'jeez, what a contest that must have been.'

I'm just going to hazard a guess here, but I believe, the kind of 58 year old guy who does that would be...an impotent 58 year old guy desperate to avail his condition. Just a guess. Is it just me or do some people think that people just stop having sex when they turn 35? Yes, people, older people have the desire for and, do have, sex. It's quite a shock, I know.

Anyway, back on topic, ten years of being unable to do even basic, rudimentary things such as hug someone must be torture and in that light, given all the things everybody does and takes for granted, the compensation seems appropriate, works out to $40,000 a year so that seems fair.

Umm... if you want to know what they think, it's really not much of anything, considering that they're simply a pile of gametes and a bunch of spinning tales. And if you're really curious about the taste, I'm sure you could ask most girls and quite a few guys. I'm definitely glad that the court lowered the compensation from $750k to $400k... It's not as low as I'd like, but it's definitely better than it was before.

They do have a little head and tiny brains if I remember right. As for the taste i'm surely not gonna try that out any century now. It was sad this happened but yeah he could've had it taken out but that may have been painful. Who knows since he didn't choose that.

He had a serious heart condition, and any major surgery like that could be devastating. Honestly, though, it can't be that crippling to your life. Sorry for the 'TMI' here, but seriously, teenage guys have to deal with constant and spontaneous hard-ons all the time. It's not a crippling condition.

And, well, though the production of different chemicals in your body may alter taste, most would say that it kinda taste like yeast-bread. I've said to much.
