Re: strange food

No offense to you, but the cultures you listed as part of the poll would most likely be offended because you called their good "strange". Just saying.
I like pancakes and chicken teriyaki. I don't know where pancakes come from, but chicken teriyaki is Japanese, I believe.

Re: strange food

Poutine, that's from quebec, and you'll have a LOT of trouble finding it if your outsique quebec. Except Quebec's food, I eat everything if doesn't include onion in pieces(makes me throw up), but if it's in the sauce, I can eat them.

Ohh I like all kinds of foods... I had the chance to try all sorts on my many trips around the world... Off all that I ate I think the strangest was Polar bear eye balls :S in nunavut (canadian territory) and yea I really like the food from mainland europe... I unfortunately dont like English food (Scottish is ok) exept their beer but Germany still has the palm for that one

Ramen is one of the strangest foods because its from Asia but its just noodles mixed with some vegetables in a cup very strange, you think it would have something else in it like fish cause in Asia they eat a lot of fish they also catch alot of Dolphin sad. Re: strange food

I'm filipino, so my culture has alot of strange foods. Then again, every culture has their strange foods.

We have this thing called Balot which is a fertilized egg that you eat. Yes, you eat the baby burd inside D: It would be like about a few weeks old and you boil it so its ready once you crack the shell. It's really nasty, but you eat the baby bird inside. ewwwww! I never tried it because it sounds digusting, but I've heard it tastes really good.

We have this other thing (not sure what it's called) but its a stew made of pig's blood. You would boil the blood and put some chopped meat in it. It doesn't look that red when it's done...but it still looke pretty nasty. I never tried this one either, but I heard it tastes good too.

This isn't a filipino dish, but I heard of a dish called Hagus. I think its a Scottish dish (I'm not sure) But yea, it's basically the inards of a sheep that is cooked in the sheep's stomach they cook a variety of vegetables and meats, and then they boil everything inside the stomach. And then they eat it ^^

HAGGIS... MAN ITS THE GREATEST THING EVER... As gruesome as it may sound its actually really good but I guess you have to be somewhat scottish to enjoy it perhaps? Meh... But yea its quite the meal

Re: strange food

While I was in France a couple years ago I had this really wretched thing. I don't remember the name, but it was a very thin bread with bacon, onion and a milk sauce as a topping, and you ate it like pizza. It was pretty nasty.
The French do coffee much differently as well. Instead of large cups of watered-down coffee like there are in the states, it's served as tiny shots of espessso. Just one of them was enough to satisfy my caffine cravings for an entire day, and I drink much, much more coffee than I should already.

...Maruchan Top Ramen is noodles in broth with veggies. Real ramen comes in many varieties with many different things mixed in. Just tonight at a Japanese Restaurant I had TanTan Men [I think it was called Tan Tan Men...] and it was noodles, in a hot and sour broth with beef, bamboo something-or-other, and mushrooms. Along with the onions and such.

And maruchan ramen isn't strange. No food is really strange. And if one food is, all food is strange. I mean cake? Who thought of that? And french fries? All food is strange when it comes down to it.

Poutine the best food known to man. But since I'm a Quebecois it doesn't really count as strange food but definately my favorite local dish. However since french is on the poll that's what I'm voting.

Re: strange food

I like Japanese and Italian. I could seriously eat pasta until the pasta-making ways were lost to humanity.

Re: strange food

Italian food for the win, because of pasta and pizza. I'm addicted to both foods. I get grains, cheese, and fruit from them or maybe meats, too, if I have pepperoni. Yum, yum.

For strange or weird food, that would have to be French food. I mean, snails? What the hell were they thinking?

Re: strange food

Well lets see, I like chinese a lot. Ive eaten a little greek food. Mainly Gyros (pronounced heroes) They are so good. Weird food, well in my french class we had a cheese tasting party. We ate all kinds of cheese. Most of them were good espically this pepper cheese. But this one cheese, I cant remember what its called, but its really salty. Its like drinking soy sauce. I tried this chocolate spread that they put on bread. Its good. The thing is theres no peanut butter in france. A chocolate and peanut butter sandwich. That sounds really great.

Re: strange food

I like any type of food, lately I've been having a craving for some lebanese/medeterranian cusine. Something strange I tried a little while ago is Sprite/7up with milk. It was half milk and half sprite, I didn't think it would taste that great but it ended up being a nice experience. It tastes like regular sprite but with this slight alteration on the flavour, I reccomend that you try it, you might be in for a nice surprise.
