Hurricane Season

No, the title was sarcasm. Welcome to Hurricane Season! I was just told by my friends that Hurricane Alberto is coming. If I live in New Jersey... is it going to hit hard here? This is to discuss hurricane season... meh. I don't think it'll hit hard. What'd'you all think?

You might get a little rain. that's it.

I live in N.W. GA and I gotten a cloudy sky, that's it, and we need the rain. Also if I remember right It was just a tropical storm.

Also from what I heard we are going to have a hurricane season similar to the one like last year.

Atleast I'm on the upper East coast. Not much of a hurricane zone but you never know. Some big ones lately.

Good luck to you all who live in the lower states. Florida the most.

I live in Florida and we just got alot of rain. I haven't been watching it though, so I don't know what it's currently up to.

I think it hit North Carolina pretty bad with floods, I don't know. I was blasting music when I was in the Gym. Damn TVs with no sound...

Hm, didn't know it was that heavy of a storm.

My whole back pourch did kinda flood alot though.

I live in the Caribbean, oh ya, we get the full blast of the hurricanes before it reaches southern USA. But, one thing though, hurricanes always veer north of my country though, it's like, they're.. afraid... *shifty eyes... spooky music*

Alberto was downgraded to a tropical depression early Wednesday morning and then declared non-tropical late Wednesday morning. While no longer producing strong winds, it is still produced very heavy rainfall and flooding. Raleigh, North Carolina was pounded with between 5 and 7.60 inches of rain in a six hour period Wednesday causing major flooding in the city. The rainfall in Raleigh set a 24-hour rainfall record set back in October 11, 2002 with old remnants of Kyle. Heavy rainfall then spread into southeastern Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula. Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches brought additional flooding. The remnants of Alberto passed southeast of Cape Cod Thursday morning, drenching Nantucket with over an inch of rain. Friday and Saturday, the remnants of Alberto will become a fairly impressive North Atlantic Ocean storm bringing wind and heavy rain to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Marine interest out of New England and the Maritimes will need to give this one wide berth till it clears out and away.

Elsewhere the tropics are relatively quiet in the Atlantic with easterly waves in the central Caribbean and 1000 miles east of the Windward Islands, both with minimal convection. In the eastern Pacific there are flare ups of storms but nothing is organizing. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the next 24 hours.

That's gotta suck.. especcially since it's ths summer.. but then again, there's nothing we can do to change the Hurricane season.

i think mother nature is trying to tell the gulf coast something. get away from the coast, because it's not that safe.

Anyway..yea, I was just watching Last Call with Carson Daily....and he was talking about how they Predited a mjor Hurricane was to hit this season around New York and other New England States. I live in NC, so, the last hurricane that hit anywhere near where I am was Hugo....back in '89, the year I was born, I was only 3 months old I think

Well, since it's supposedly about hurricane season...

I was kinda worried when the rumors of Alberto came around. Hurricane season usually isn't that bad here where I live, and they were really exagerating Alberto so much you actually thought it would be devastating. =/

Lozzie - I'm pretty sure Hurricane Andrew did a LOT of damage to NC in '92, as well...

Oh, man, I love hurricane-style rain, but if a *real* hurricane comes around, I get scared to no end. Thankfully, though, no real hurricanes have done a lot of damage to New England since Hurricane Bob... unfortunately for me, I was in a shack-of-a-cabin on the southern coast of Cape Cod when that hit and had to ride out the storm for three days while shingles kept getting pulled off from the roof... x.X

Floyd hit all along the east coast, mostly in North Carolina. So Noble Cucco should of experianced something ... I remember the "Floyd Freak out" or so me and some people called it down here ... everyone was going crazy, and turned out it never even hit us. >_>

Hurricane Charley was prolly the most serious for me - our neighboorhod was trash, trees down everywhere (one on my dad's car and our roof) - 2 weeks of school gone, and about 4 days of no power. Great conditions compared to most places though. Thank God I don't live in south Florida or near the coast.

Seriously though, like Insaney said ... It's the Bahamas and Cuba, and all the tropical islands below Florida that really get it. Sure, Florida may experiance some of the same stuff, but they get hit first and some areas on the islands down
