I HATE PIT-BULLS!!!

Ok, yer all probably wondering what's up with the aggressive thread title, so i'm gonna tell you all a little story. a few months ago, the neighbours got a new dog. a pit-bull, of all breeds. (they seem to have become a fashion around here lately) well, about two months ago, this dog go's after my cat, and tears her poor face right off!!! mom decides to let it slide, but was very pissed about it. they hadnt kept it on a leash or a muzzle or anything!!! and the cat stayed out in the front yard. she was comfortable there. Mom had torn this dog right off of the cat, and threw it several feet away. but, the neighbours, have they learned to keep the damn thing on a leash? ofcourse not! keep in mind it's summer, so we had the front door open to let a breeze in. we've gone into the kitchen and are making burgers, when we hear the damn thing barking, see one of our parakeet's flying around, and the dog chasing our rabbit! mom had a knife in her hand, (she had been slicing the burger-buns) whacked the dog's behing, using the flat of the blade. in the mean time, i've run after the rabbit. i've grabbed her and calmed her down, so mom decides to go and yell at the neighbors for they're continued stupidity. they think it wasnt anything special and refused to do anything. what do you think of this? should the dog be euthanised? should the owners be hit with a severe fine? or are you yet another idiot that thinks it's no big deal?

That's terrible.

Killing the dog is unfair, because it's just being a dog.
However, I do believe that something should be done with the owners ( haha, not killing wise xD ). I do believe it's possible to complain against such neighbours and for them to have orders to restrain their "pet" or be fined.

Fining should definitely be in order..

I doubt the dog deserves to be euthanised, since it seems that the owners are the main problem. Any dog would chase after rabbits and such, but the fact that it is the neighbor's pet and that it is the owner's fault changes the story.

I would probably say the dog gets another chance with more intelligent owners, if I was to decide. However, they should probably "keep him on a short leash"

i had suggested the euthanised thing, not because i wanted that, but because i know someone will suggest it anyways.

I hear of these things going to local courts all the time. The dog will get itself killed in three days' time by running in front of a moving vehicle. There, that settles everything. :0)

EDIT: Oh yes...and too bad about your cat. Is she alright, now?

There's always a third option - calling the animal control.

No, seriously, you should call animal control. They'll talk to the neighbors, and if they still refuse to put him on a leash/in a fenced in area, they'll either take the dog away, or slap them with a hefty fine.

Personally, i am a dog person, but seriously,that dog outta be put on a leash or euthanised or something....something to just kill it or at least keep him in solitary confinement.....I personally don't like cats(allergic, you can't blame me) but still, thats kinda messed up fr the peole not to put him on a leashe or something.

Best suggestion yet. That, or you could do what I would do since I'm crazy. Get dog, get gun, get woodchipper. Problem solved.

Don't euthanize it. Rip its guts out with your bare hands. And eat the remains for dinner.

I agree with you. The owner should be punished for this reason. Pit-bulls are naturaly somewhat of a hostile dog and if not trained or cared for correctly such things can happen.

people, i would like to add, yes my cat had died. her entire skull was caved in. if you look it up, i think pit-bulls jaw strength is like, 500 lbs per square inch or something like that. also, we've called the police (they deal with everything in england *my current position* and nothing has happened so for)

EDIT: also, the owners are a bunch of drunks who've been approached by the cops a number of times
