California Wildfires

I was surprised there wasnt a topic on this yet...

Well as I'm sure most of you know, the next big wildfire since the Rodeo-Chediski fire here in Arizona two years ago is burning violently in California. Not only is it taking out mass acres of forestry, but communities and lives as well. This series of blazes has already scorched nearly as much land as the one AZ, maybe even more by now. The combined efforts of Nevada, California and Arizona are hardly enough to save towns under threat form the fire. The swift Santa Anna winda aren't helping the cause either.

A truly disasterous occasion and my sympathies to anyone affected...

Re: California Wildfires

No wildfires where i live...hell no it would ever happen where i live. But i drove through a forest fire during my trip...something like 3000 km from my house... I remember barely being able to breathe, and thinking I'd lose about 10 years of my life.

Re: California Wildfires

Yeah, it's pretty bad right now. Canada is sending fire retardant bombers in, and we may send in firefighters as well. We had some huge wildfires in British Columbia during the summer, and it took nearly two months to get them under control, much less subdued.

The president has declared a state of disasteor(sp), and they moved the monday night football game (and in doing so, gave out free seats). I think, in my mind, it qualifies as...bad.

Re: California Wildfires

I live much farther upstate in California, so Im not really in any danger at the moment, but who knows how far this will spread.

Alot of people at my school are scared about the prospect of it flocking up near San Fransisco, but Ive just been telling them that there are no forests for 100 miles from there. So if it does spread to where i live, it will have to decimate couple hundred towns as it spreads. =/

Re: California Wildfires

I'm all the way on the other side of the country in Buffalo New York, so I'm safe.

I feel deeply sorry though for those who have and are suffering from these destructive problems. I plan to keep those families who are homless right now in my prayers tomorrow at school *I go to a Catholic school*

Re: California Wildfires

I hope the fires are put under control, soon. But as i see it right now they aren'[t fighting them as best they can, i mean cut down trees that if they burn might cause the fire to jump highways, it would make much more sense.

And as for your assinine, out of place comment, CIVILAZATION, See the thread it belongs in.

Re: California Wildfires

Yes those fires are terrible. Even worse then the ones we have to put up with here every summer. If the situation continues to worsen I think we shall send some of your top-notch rural firefighters over there. (Little Johnny our prime minister loves to do anything that will help the president out)

Re: California Wildfires

Im pretty sure I am safe. New Jersey is very far from California.

But, that must be kind of bad for people who do have to suffer the fire.

at my house it was like raining ash- it was so cool and when the fire first started it looked like a mushroom cloud against the setting sun ( a beautiful image)
