Message to the unintelligent - from the news!

Some day last week a Danish psychologist claimed that unintelligent parents should not have too many children. Intelligent parents' lives are often uptaken by career and work and this psychologist believes that if these had more children, the avergae IQ of the population. Which of course means that there would be a number of professionally or highly educated people.

It is clear that, even though it is not explicitly suggested or clarified in the interview, this is an urgent request to all clever people.

Do you find this this provoking? Is it ethically defensible?
Will it secure the world's future? Is it rational?

Now, to my opinion; I understand the underlying principle of the idea about securing the future and hiring intelligent scientists, professionals and other good resources for the society, but still the tone in it selfish. It is also a very obtrusive statement and the psychologist seems to have missed the vital point about love and friendship. Intelligence is not everything.

I think it's pretty degrating to kind of state that intellectual babies only come from parents of the same. There is a slight part of me that believes that its possible, but still, intellect is something that is formed by what is around you and what your taught, not from genes.

Still it involves the idea of evolution and survival of the best. It is not necessary but when one realizes that many of the people of the world who have the most amount of children are the very lowest classes, one must understand that this will help alleviate poverty. Still no one who is not very smart or intellegant or are quite poor will not likely read this warning, and thus they won't actually do what is asked of them to do!

I agree Tenkawa and Irish Samurai. It is however, surprising that so few have replied to this thread. Mybe they found the threadtitle inappealing. I have changed it.

It is not guaranteed that clever parents will have a clever child. But, Tenkawa, I have a good example that genes do have a role to play in whether children are intelligent or not. A boy in my class gets mostly A's and the goals for the different subjects in our school are demanding. However, his parents are both educated doctors and that tells a lot does it not?

A think *******s should be forbidden to reproduce, even pure Darwinistic, they are the most fit, but that was BEFORE socialicm and facsicm were invented. But how are we going to define ******* (I recognize they I know, but that's it). And yes, *******s have high IQ, the're also found attractive, they are considered cool, they have coinfidence and of some reason looked upon as better humans, even they're quite the oppisite; They are the REAL problem.

Makes perfect sense to me. But then again, it'll never happen.

Yes *******s should be able to remove somehow. I know about a lot of intelligent *******s in my school.

I think thats absolutely ridiculous. I mean, you cant just say to somebody "I think youre stupid as !@#$. Don't have kids, cause we don't want youre kind anymore."

I mean, you might as well say we should kill off all the retards. Theyre not intelligent, so who needs 'em? Intelligence isnt anything, if you dont have love

I think this makes sense. If parents aren't around to support children, then their education, personal experiences, social life, and emotional life can be affected. It's the same thing behind people without much money having lots of children. Why the heck are you having four kids if you can't afford to support them? I mean, it doesn't take all that much common sense.

I would say the same thing, maybe that is one of the stupidest things i have heard today. Either way i want to know why he hasn't started getting rid of the the people with low IQ's starting with himself.

I think that while that would essentially make the basis for a utopian society, it would never work in the real world, people want to have children and once you try to stop them, they won't like it, especially if it is based off intellingence. Even then where do you draw the line? Society needs more laborers and blue collar works than rocket scientists anyway....

The thing is that anything can be justified under surreal circumstances. However, in reality only a few things can be justified. Human nature makes this obsolete. Physisisisisists do not have to take human psychology into account when they makes statements, even when although beneficial, will still not be accepted.

Chinese Cultural Revolution Ideals...keep the people dumb so they won't revolt
Reality: People revolted because they wanted knowledge among other things...and everyone was dumb so they had no educated class.

Instead of shooting *******s or stupid people, lets shoot the people who dont contribute to society. You know, investment bankers, MBA's, Midlevel managers,... ect. As much as everyone wants to shoot the stupid, we're going to have to restrain ourselves because without a hardworking and ignorant proletariat, our whole economy would collapse like a bad cheese souffle. Without the lower class to bus our tables, make our clothes, collect our garbage, drive our cars, mine the metal that makes our cars, and chop down the trees that build our houses, we would have to do those things ourselves. Our whole society is bases on enslaving other people, letting them live long enough to have children, and working them into the ground till they die. If we killed all of them, the only people left in the world would be CEOs, engineers, university professors, and salespeople.
