Newb: (n) A newer member of a group or organization that is not familiar, or inexperienced with the rules or conduct of said group.

Newbs. One word that every forum must love, tolerate, but never hate. Over my time here at ZU, I have noticed newbs being treated unfairly, just because they don’t have a large post count. I find this hazing unjustly, and I will not stand for it. This is why Obsidion and I are forming the formal group, The Newb Guard.

Helping newbs get adjusted to ZU, The Newb Guard is open to anyone that has knowledge of proper forum behavior. These people will PM newbs, telling them what they have done wrong, and how they could have done it right.

Mission Statement: We PM newbs, and newbs PM us!

It works both ways. If a newbie sees someone with an NG (Newb Guard) banner in their sig, or anything saying they are assosiated with the NG, they can PM them for help. Or, we (the NG) can PM newbs giving them help.

It only takes a few second to write upa PM, and think how much good it dofor the forums.

First, and most obvious, it will make the forums a better place by having newbs more educated faster. This will also reduce spam, and unwanted threads. This indirectly leads to less PMs for Monitors (mods), and Administrators.

Unlike the crusades, the NG doesn’t get newbs in trouble. Bad posts will not be reported, but instead the writer will be informed about their misconduct. Unlike the crusades, we only support newbs, as older members should already know of the rules. Please note that newbs do not have to be new, just inexperienced. Also, unlike adoption, this is only a few PMs back and forth answering a few questions. Afterwards the newb can go psot somemore, and if they run into more trouble they can contact that person again, or another NG member.

Me and Obsidian have organized this hoping to protect newbs from being discriminated. We hope that we will get a lot of trustworthy members who will take some time and make the forums a better place.

This thread is for signing up, questions about the NG, and discussion amongst the NG members.

Hate to burst your bubble but there is already something slightly like this >_>.

If you read it, this isn't like adoption,. Adoption happens for months, this is just a few PMs. No need to go to the adoption thread and sign up, jsut PM a newb. Not every newb goes to the adoption thread, in fact, very few do. This is simply to tell the newb what they have done wrong. Also, instead of a newb posting anew thread for a question, or PMing a mod, they simply PM anyone assosiated with the NG.

A few points to ponder:

1. It's "Moderator" not "Monitor."

2. Commendable concept.

3. While clubs are not against the rules, threads dedicated to the recruitment/discussion of them are. Keep it to PMs, and a small notice in your signature, if you wish.
