The Casual ZU'er

*Counts his weeks away from ZU*

Dang! My life has run away, taking me with it! Ever since school started, all traces of order have disappeared from my life. If it's not one 80 problem assignment it's a test to study for. ZU and my own dinky little website have taken the backseat while my ambition drives the car of my life with me in the passenger seat.

But meh, I'm ranting. The point is that I have turned into one of my bigger fears, a casual poster. I only post when that car of life stops to refuel, and I am almost always coming in, looking, and walking off to do the next big algebra assignment without posting. Not only have I practically deserted ZU, but my own shoddy little website has suffered as well. I have not updated it in over five weeks now. I'm a bit ashamed of it, and it's the simple fact that work comes first.

Also, my writing has suffered. I have a very long fanfiction that I have great hopes for, but it is second priority. I have several dedicated fans scattered across different sites, inluding Sigve here at ZU, who have been patiently tapping their fingers and sighing. I even got a few angry E-mails demanding the next part or they'll bombard me with hate mail. Oh yeah, that's a fan!

And now here I have a break to hop onto my computer for something besides research, and where do I go? ZU of course! I'm seriously behind on the local events, including who won what in the awards. I know that by tomorrow I'll have some 80 problem algebra "tome" assignment and will be spending the evening plugging figures on my calculator, so let's utilize the time!

I've always dabbled in philosophy over my life, and now this quirky little question has been hauntingmy mind: What is the perfect forum poster? Will he/she post at least five posts every day, maybe more or less? What would you define as a casual or perfect poster? Some might see moderators, who keep the boards clean and welcoming as the perfect posters. Some might see the always dependable admin as the epitome for forum perfection. Still others see casual posting once in a while as adequate. And a few of my good friends would ask "What's the point?" Still, man's need for classification marches along, putting labels on evey man and woman's head.

I believe that posting perfection does not lie in postig regularly, it's that single thread gem that the person posts rarely that makes him/her shine. One exame would be the Community Thread, or the Savage Naton Thread. These kind of posts leave a lasting impression on the forum and they're the kind of posts someone is remembered for.

Or there's the third argument, which is equally plausible, that there is no such thing as perfection, and those who desire it are fundamentally imperfect. All of this could be the simple blind gasping for knowledge that the human race has danced to ever since it was created.

So, what do you think? Are we all just a big laughable dance of futility, here on ZU or on the Earth in general, or is there such a thing as the perfect poster after all?

Re: The Casual ZU'er

I am the perfect poster

But seriously, IMHO anybody that can contribute to a discussion and the overall atmopshere of the place without disrupting everything in a bad way is pretty much a perfect poster.

Heck, even a little rule bending, if it's a mistake or humorous, is perfectly acceptable in my book

Oh, one more requirement: The psoter must be able to make themselves understood. If they're just plain idiotic and illiterate or their posts are impossible to read then they're most definitely NOT a perfect poster

A perfect poster?

Hmm.... Well, not me, of course.

I'd say someone respected by everyone, like AnakiN-, Remus, or Akie. Nobody hates Akie. Nobody knows how.

Yes, well I bet those whom hate Anakin are not the perfect posters here...unless they don't outwardly express it. lol.

Re: The Casual ZU'er

I know several people who hate me I'm not exactly the most likable person around.

Has to do with my strong opinions, or so I've been told

And even if I wanted to reveal the identities of the AnakiN haters, you wouldn't know them... Suffice to say that they are posters from other forums who sympathized with MissKari.

EDIT: 3800th post.

Re: The Casual ZU'er

Yeah, you put your opinion down pretty strong, but its not like it never makes sense. You tell it like it is, I respect that, seriously.

The perfect poster? Not me. Ive screwed up a few times, written things I wish I hadnt, but Im an ok poster. At least I can say I havent spammed. I try to put at least SOME thought into stuff I post.

Re: The Casual ZU'er

I think I'm a good poster... not perfect. No one's perfect. Everyone that puts forward their opinions in an appropriate manner is a good poster. Thus most of this community is.

Re: The Casual ZU'er

I think I'm a good poster, aside from what some consider to be spam. Most of the time when I'm too lazy to write alot, my posts are pretty short, like one of two lines, but when I actually choose to elaborate on something and go into greater detail and argument, they can reach greater lengths. Aside from BA posts, I think my biggest ones have been around 3 paragraphs in length, though they are few and in-between.

Just wait until Bobslob, Trico, Dryth, Pipking, or ZelShaded89 see this topic...

Re: The Casual ZU'er

I think I'm an okay poster. I can pretty much say that I havn't spammed. I come here almost everyday and always posts something, though I wouldn't call myself perfect. Most new members don't post an effing thing in the forums. They just join so they're name'll show up on the member list. They're not anywhere near perfect posters. I'm not either, but I do try to put thoought in my posts.

Edit: How did Final Fantasy Gamer get a custom rank?

Re: The Casual ZU'er

Haha it is a trick question there is no perfect poster! There are people who might come close, but no one can be perfect. Everyone gts mad everyone writes offensive things everyone gets offended. no one follows the rules to a tee, no one is perfect.

Everyone has people that dislike them, i don't think there has ever been anyone that has told me that they really don't like me, but i'm sure there is, considering that outside of fights.

I don't see why that question belongs here, but, if you really wanna know, it's because he's a tutor, tutors are mods, mods can get custom ranks, easy as that.

I'm not the perfect poster, far from. I like coming here, giving my opinions, posting in the BA, i do my best
