Science Rules!

I've noticed no one's posted anything about science in here, so I thought I'll post about science. I love science and I want to be a Paleontologist(a scientist who studies fossils) after I get out of high school and college. I love nature and chemistry the most. I simply love any animal and plant except insects. Besides butterflies, them I could do without. I love learning about Dinosaurs and prehistoric reptiles and mammals too. If you like science, what kind of science to you like? Astronomy? Nature? Chemistry? Rocks and Minerals? Please explain why too.

Re: Science Rules!

I like Science a lot. Life Science, to be specific. It was and still is one of my favorite subjects in school. I don’t really want to have a career later in life that involves Science though. I like cells, genetics, animal kingdom classification, and ecosystems the most. I find all this stuff fascinating. ^ ^

Re: Science Rules!

I remember, when I was in Elementary school, I liked Astronomy a lot. But now I'm very interested in Nature. The planets are still an okay subject to me, but I'm not really that into it anymore.

I really want to be an Astronautical Engineer. (designing space shipe and propulsion)
The universe just fascinates me. The number of stars is mind-boggling, and there's a very good chance there is life out there, maybe even intelligent life.

Re: Science Rules!

You want to be a paleontologist? Awesome! ^_^ For a short while so did I, but then I switched my focus to Egyptology. I intend to go to colledge and study to become an Egyptologist, hopefully working in the feild, though I may change my mind about that later, who knows. Btw, for those of you who don't know, an Egyptologist is an archaeologist who focuses on studying ancient Egypt. Why do I love Egyptology so much? Everything about them fascinates me! At first I just got into it because of their art, which has such a unique, distinctive style. But then I started reading about them, and their beliefs and culture are just fascinating! Especially their religious beliefs, and about life after death. ^_^ Okay, so a lot of this falls kinda under history, but it's science too! heh

Re: Science Rules!

I absolutely love astronomy. Just looking up into the night sky and seeing all those stars is quite amazing. Anything to do with astronomy, I love. I've got a telescope, though I haven't used that for quite some time. I love learning about our solar system, imagining what it must be like out there. I'd like to stand on Io with a volcano erupting as I look up at Jupiter in the sky.

I also like biology. When I first started doing it in Year 11, I hated it, it was all about plants and it wasn't very interesting, but then we started doing human biology, evolution, and other stuff and I got really interested in it.

Re: Science Rules!

SCIENCE! *drools*

I LOVE science! *Drools more*

My favorite is biology. Mostly genetics and biochemistry. I LOVE learning about biological thing...ooo...just makes me so fuzzy. ^_^

BUT I don't have biology this year! Next year I will take a college bio class, though. (in tenth grade! XD)

This year I take Earth Science, which also deals with astronomy, and I enjoy learning about the stars a LOT.

I think I'm going to be something to do with biology when I am older. An opthomologist...or a biologist of some sort...

(ooo! what ARE these new buttons? *presses buttons*) (SWEET! You can make the thing bigger!! No...but I don't want to download anything. XO My spelling is good. ^_~)

Re: Science Rules!

Science should be considered the most important thing in the world. I LOVE science SO much! I wish I could have it more than once a day! I digress though. I love playing with chemicals and I love looking through microscopes at cells. I love anything to do with cells, or organisms! I'd love to get into biology maybe........... So that is what I think.

Oh, how interesting! When I began studying biology, I too found botany to be irksome, but thoroughly enjoyed anatomy and physiology. It's become one of my favourite subjects, as I am fascinated by human biology, the neurological and psychological aspect especially.

Re: Science Rules!

It pains me to admit this but I am a bit of a Science Nerd. I've taken all of my required Science classes, Physics, next semester I will take Ecology, and Chemistry my senior year. I really enjoy the sciences, especially those which deal with physics and matter. Things like The Unified Field Theory, String Theory, Laws of Gravity and The Principles of Sound are just insanely interesting to me.

Man, I need to get a life.

I've been studying to be an Acoustical Engineer which goes hand in hand with my musical career (which is looking desperate, by the way). However, I don't think that I will be able to follow this path. I have heard horror stories about the math classes at my school, and I highly doubt that I will be able to scare (pun fully intended) up the grades needed to get into a good college like Madison or Minnesota. I'm pretty sure the fact that I hate math doesn't help much, either...

Eh, maybe I'll be an entomologist, instead. I've always wanted to drive a Jeep Wrangler.

Re: Science Rules!

I love Science too! I took all the science classes in high school, except Physics. Just never managed to take it. When I was 14 I said I wanted to be a vet.

Now I'm 36 and finally doing something about it. I'm in my second year of college and finally taking the science classes I need. My first classes were extremely boring English, Math, Humanities, and the like. This semester I'm taking Bio 2 and Intro to Chem. I found Bio 1 to be extremely boring at first, talking about cells, down to the molecular level. Now I know why you need to go into such detail. When we finally got into DNA and Biochemestry I didn't know what to do with myself. I absolutely love it! I can't wait to get back into Chemestry. It's been a looong time since I've been in that class.

Don't worry ST, I hate math too. I've always hated math. I just realize I don't have any choice here and have to take the stupid classes. I know too that if I don't put enough into the stupid class, I'll get a bad grade and lower my GPA. Can't do that. Just grin and bear it. I'm going to try to skip over as many math classes as possible and cut to the chase. Like going from 100 to 145. We'll see how that goes. You can do anything you set your mind to ST, don't let anything hold you back.

Re: Science Rules!

Hmm, yeah not really a big fan of Science. I've been taking science classes since 6th grade, and they never really got my blood pumping per se. I've taken all different kinds of science class ranging anywhere from Biology to Astronomy. Whether it be basic science or Chem, I can't say I'm a fan.

I'm currently enrolled in Advanced Biology. To be honest I was trying to take the easy way out. I didn't exactly want to take a Science class this year, but since it is my Junior year in High School, it is quite important. I was originally going to do Advanced Chemistry, but I didn't feel that it would fit my preferences. I switched to Adv. Bio at the last second, and actually enjoyed it for a while. We started the year out with the basics of course, but once we started picking up the pace I frankly lost interest. I think I have a C in it now, which isn't good. Still, it's my fault and I guess I deserve the grade.

I'm actually kind of interested in taking Astronomy next year. It is only one semester long (it shares the year long course with Earth Science). There's just something about space that excites me more than any other science. Four years of science does look good on college applications too.

Re: Science Rules!

I'm not particulairly fond of science, but I suppose it is important. I don't think I have the kind of technical and mechanical mind that can absorb the information and maniuplate the "variables" and such. I thought I was just bad at physics because of the math involved with it, but analyzing it, its a different matter that I can't properly describe moreover than just my lack of ability to figure out things according to such and such regard. I'm in physical science now anyways and while I don't find it very interesting, if anything, it probably is the one of the more pratical things you'll learn in school. Knowledge of the theories, equations, and such do make me feel a tad smart, but meh or it could be just the style of those trendy words like "molecular" or "thermal" -- but if anything, I think I would like astronamy more than any other field of science. Not sure why, but the stars and the celestial bodies have just always inccured an interest into me. As opposed to biology, physics, and the like anyways.
