Who on ZU smokes or has smoked?

This is more aimed at the older Users of ZU, but I am oddly curious to know who on ZU has smoked, tried it, or still does. I did for a little while(not too long)(im 15) but realized it was stupid and all that intervention stuff kicked in. But anyways, Just an odd question that I felt the need to ask.

I'm heavily against drug use of any kind. I don't know why. I never have smoked, and I never will. In fact, I've never even considered it.

On a side note, I hate having to go to bars to watch untelevised football games, then getting the smokey smell all over my clothes. It makes me feel disgusting.

I will also say that there are a lot of smokers at our school. Looks like the DARE program failed.

My friend was into that stuff for awhile. Actually, a lot of 'em were. Well at least people I knew of. My school has quite a few potheads, not unlike other schools.

I'm happy to say I never have and never will try any kind of drug in my entire life.

It's funny you started this thread, 2 Dope, because I'd just been fuming (heh) about how anti-smoking has turned anti-smoker.

Case-in-point: today, I was walking down the bike path on my way to the store, having a smoke. I could hear a gaggle of teenaged girls two blocks away. When they passed me, two of the girls started fake-coughing and giving me dirty looks. There was no possible way my smoke had gotten in their faces - they just saw me as a smoker and therefore subhuman.

There was a big push to make all public buildings provide a separately ventilated smoking area if they were going to allow smoking. It passed, and was a good thing.

The next step was to ban smoking in all public buildings. This resulted in hundreds of thousands of wasted dollars for those who built specially ventilated smoking areas, but still, not a bad thing because people who work in those environments shouldn't have to suffer smoke they don't want.

Today the fight is divided between trying to ban smoking in homes and ban smoking outside.

It has gone too far.

There's the ads - "If someone is smoking around you, ask them to stop." That's bul*****. It creates a class system: non-smokers are better than smokers; they have the right to dictate what smokers do. There is a direct correlation between the nature of these ads, and the behaviour of those girls.

Look - I don't think Big Tabacco deserves a break. I don't think smoking is cool, and I'm certainly not delusional enough to think it's good for me. But I sure as **** don't deserve to be treated like scum because I'm addicted to cigarettes, nor should anyone have the right to tell me I can't smoke in my home, or outside. Outside, for christ's sake! You want to talk about 'air pollution', start with cars.

I tried it and stopped. Man, I'm only 14. Don't I look bad....

After my grandfather's death, I will never put a cigarette anywhere near my mouth. I find it pretty gross, anyways (nothing against you, pip)

And the water my grandfather went down because of it makes me never want to smoke even more

No I haven't smoked and never will. What is the point? You are paying money to breathe in smoke that isn't good for you.

Pipking, the reason they are doing that is because its the only way for you to stop smoking if you are not willing to try to stop. No, I do not smoke. You are helping air pollution also, at least cars are worth it are they not? They help us to egt places faster, not to get you slowly sick. Cars do have a threat of killing you, but I would rather drive a car than smoke any day. Sorry, I am heavily against drugs like Shiek84.

Smoking is bad. Period, I hate it, it's taken a lot of my relatives down.

Smokers are not bad, they have the right to smoke even if it's bad for them. People should not critisize people for their choices. I personally am disgusted by smoking, but I do not go all out and wear a sign that says SMOKING IS BAD. The packs themselves say that, so it's not my problem.

That's not to say you shouldn't try to stop, because it really is bad for you. But you also shouldn't regard someone as subhuman if they do smoke. Like my friends don't regard me like that because I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper. Everyone has an addiction, some are just worse than others.

And I agree with pipking, start with cars if you're going to go on about air pollution.

My grandfather smoked for the longest time; for 40 years actually. And he's suffering because of it now. He has prevously been diagnosed with emphosema has a hard time breating (is very short-winded always) He quit a while before this when he discovered he was developing a cancer spot on his wrist, (Basically got scared out of it) but he took up smokeless tobacco after that.

No, I've never tried a cigarette and probably never will. Probably because I don't want to end up in a miserable state like my grandfather is in right now.

So I've just got it stuck in my head that Im not going near a cigarette.
Its a total waste of money, You always have to go outside to smoke. And there is some many ways to die from smoking. Its a killer.

I don't smoke. Never have, probably never will. I had a grandfather who smoked a lot and died of lung cancer, I think. Kinda reminds me to stay away from the stuff.

I don't really have a problem when someone comes into class and they still kinda smell like smoke, but I don't like being around someone when he/she is actually smoking. Second-hand smoke and stuff, you know?

I've tried it a few times. My first try was when I was 12 and it continued on for two weeks until I was caught. Yeah, I was scared for my life.

I've smoked a few other times just for the hell of it but only to see how it was. It's really not that satisfying as it seems. It's kind of really painfu... I can't stand 2nd hand smoke, even the slightest whisp of smoke can make me die from suffocation.

I really don't care if people smoke anymore. It's their life, they can choose to make their death premature if they want. Everyone's going to die at some point. I really don't nag smokers that much either because, hell... no one likes to be nagged. I only nag my manager, though, because it's funny. Besides, I'm sure all the smokers out there know the risk of smoking. What I've come to learn is that they just don't give a **** or they're soo addicted it's become a part of their life and they couldn't survive without a cigarette. It's kind of like nagging a fat person about eating less. Yeah-fricking-right.

I personally have nothing against smokers exept for the fact that they smoke. I just wish that some of them had more will power to stop or even had the power to stop. It is ALWAYS possible to stop, there is no such thing as a permeant addiction. Addictions can always be stopped. I understand that some people have tried to stop smoking and weren't able to do it but I just think this is because they don't have the will power to make themselves stop. I have 3 people in my family who smoke and about 10 others that have smoked (this is extended family) and another one that has died from it. It just does no good and it is best to stop. I just wish Cigarette Companies would just stop manufacturing but they seem to mean to much to the ecconomy so I guess it's imposible, but I still wish it would happen. My family is greatly anti-smoking so this might just be ingrained in my head, but it is still my opinion.

Just so you know pip, when I cough around smokers it's only when I get a wiff of their smoke, those girls were just idiotic to do it fakely.

Well... I quote this because I need to clarify some... I don't dislike the smoker themselves, I just dislike the smoke... yea... that makes sense...
