Possible Paranormal Experiences?
The possibility of there actually being ghosts in this world rarely crosses my mind, but two nights ago I felt pretty freaked out. I was on the computer as usual, and I was getting bored so I was leaning one elbow on my desk and rested my head in my hand. My face was pretty close to the screen and the only source of light in the room is a bright lamp right beside the computer. There is also a large glass picture above the computer on the back wall. Anyways, I was scanning through random webpages and I looked up to type in a web address, when I swear I saw a white image go from right to left in a portion of the picture above my computer. Being the panicky person I am, I immediately thought it was a ghost, or something like that. However, it was around 12:00am and I was extremely tired. I was most likely seeing things, not really being a ghost-believer-inner myself, but who really knows; there hasn't been any proof that they do or do not exist. Anyone else had this kind of thing happen to them or have any comments?

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
Well, you were probably hallucinating, or your eyes were playing tricks on you. Either way, I actually think ghosts could exist, like if they have unfinished business or something. And yes, I often creep out at sudden movements at night. It's creepy, because we can't prove if ghosts do or don't exist.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
The worst part about situations like this; we cannot prove they do not exist. We can only prove they do. So if there are no ghosts, we will spend the rest of our lives trying to find the answer to an insoluble question. Harsh, huh?
As for the post itself, I do not believe in ghosts. I believe that death is definite, and cannot be cheated. Vampires; well, same thing. I do believe in aliens, though. I hope that one day aliens will appear, showing us the path to a better life. No, seriously. Life on Earth sucks. We kill our own kind sentiently! We have enough food for all the people on Earth, but we let thousands go hungry! That's wrong! Personally, I think that if there are no aliens, the human race will exterminate itself in the next 2 thousand years. Not that we'll know, but...

Yes, I always try to leave the lights on. Of course, at 3 AM, this is hardly an option.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
I don't really see how you could think there are ghosts around you when small things like that happen. I've written posts in the past on my experiences, but they are always ignored or dismissed as lies. This sounds outright silly and crazy, but I used to have a woman haunting our old apartment when I was three years old. She'd even show herself at very rare times, and I could actually see her unlike my mother (in some situations). In other situations, she saw the ghost and not I. Our experiences with this ghost were so damn real we just can't be crazy, and that is something I am sure of.
Anyway. The woman would run in the halls, stomp in the bathtub, turn the TV on and off, scare me to death when I was trying to sleep, and appear and then disappear around corners. I believe she even stopped something from being boiled, once. We went out and left something to boil (we would be back quickly) and when we would return the oven would be turned off and the boiling pot removed. It is completely safe to say no one was at home while we didn't know, because no one in our family said they had done such a thing. A funny and ironic thing is that my mother freaked out once and started screaming something along the lines of 'Leave us alone, please' meant as a plea to the woman, (and here's where the irony comes in) and the woman actually disappeared for weeks. She eventually returned, more angered than before. We ended up moving, and some old woman moved in instead. Believe what you like, that is what happened, if you have witty comments to share with me along the lines of "Right, and my grandmother invented airplanes" as someone responded to me a long time ago, then don't post at all, please.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
right, and my grandmother invented airplanes...
just kidding. have you considered having people come to investigate the house? there are often physical explanations for all these things which may surprise you. even things like ultra-low sound frequencies have been the cause of many believed ghost sightings. my current house is pretty old. I think any other person living here would think it's haunted...doors open and close on their own, I hear footsteps at night, and the creepiest part of all is the screaming noise that we used to hear some nights. it honestly sounded like a little girl. of course, there are explanations for all of this. the doors are opened and closed by air currents. the "foot steps" are actually vibrations in the house caused by an air conditioner. and finally, the screaming noises were caused by the ventilation system. it was just a cranky fan that was causing it, although it was only around on certain nights. we had it replaced, and now it's fine. so things that appear haunted aren't necessarily that way. so far, nobody has been able to demonstrate any form of the paranormal. skeptic james randi has a famous challenge to anyone who can either demonstrate or point out the paranormal. if you can, you get $1 000 000. the tests are done so that it's pretty much impossible to fail if there is some form of the paranormal. for detailed reports on attempts, visit www.randi.org.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
They are capable to. If they can move objects, they could cause your death.
And regarding reasonable explanations for ghosts: I don't see what the woman we saw could possibly have been other than a ghost. There's no way she could have been a floating rag that the wind blew away, etc. We never got to see her face (for that I am thankful) but we saw her from behind, and from the looks of it she had ragged clothes and appeared to have been a poor woman. I feel so stupid for writing this as I might appear as a fool or lunatic in people's eyes on this forum, but I like discussing ghosts.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
... Yeah, you were definitely tired.
There have been some crazy experiences when I'm just so exhausted, things float on my desk. I've also thought I've seen figures moving in the darkness of my room, at least when I was really small, but it really doesn't happen anymore. Crazyness wins sometimes, but logic always wins.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
I've got one. When I was twelve, we went to Wales for a middle school trip for a week. One night when we were there, we were having dinner.
I got mad for some reaon, I can't remember very well, so I touched my glass. It shattered completely when I touched it, but the shards spreaded out into a perfect circle. Is that weird?

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
I remember walking pass a window one night and i swore that i saw a big glowing ball thing outside as i passed it. When i walked backwards to examine it...it was gone.
Needless to say, i was a bit disturbed, but may be that's because i watched too much ghost shows that day. EDIT: Um..no offense, but if you were trying to state physical reasons of why something happened that way, how could you explain a booming laughter? I watched a ghost show once where a place was thought to be haunted by a ghost and everyone in there heard a booming laughter at times.

Re: Possible Paranormal Experiences?
I'm not going to pay those bastards for investigating my house and telling me its haunted or there's been "paranormal activity". It's incredibly easy for them to fake that sort of thing. "Oh, it's colder in this room," or, "I'm getting an odd feeling in here..." I think their little contraptions are bull personally, but I'm not going to let a little white image become that important, I was tired and I don't really believe in ghosts myself.
