Nintendo University?

Is there such a thing as Nintendo University? Not as in its a real university in its self but I thought I had heard it somewhere before and is there actually a college to go to to learn Nintendo or anything about it? Help! Im so confuzzled.... :confused:

possibly, if it is true, its most lilkey not a university, rather its like they teach people how ot make video games, and nintedo sponsers it, and some nintendo people are there, and if theres someone talesnted, they recruite them for video game production... thats my stab at it...

Yeah, thats what Im talking about. I was wondering if that is real and if so, what school?

There is. It's a college in Nintendo's Headquarters in Washington. You don't learn Nintendo though, you learn programming.

that is a place featured in some Nintendo Power magazine, one of the best schools to go to if you are thinking of getting into game developing. Nintendo usually gets it's employees from that place.

The NPC designer for TP went to Digipen, her gratuating project was a monkey named "OneBigBanana".

It's called DigiPen. Nintendo of America started the school in hopes of recruiting more employees for the fast growing industry. They actually use the same builiding... My friend goes there and it's consuming his soul. I plan on going there (hopefully) after I get a Bach. in Fine Arts... somewhere...

My cousin told me about it last summer. I was like, "no freakin way" He went to University of Illinois and he asked me, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" I said, " I've always had a passion for games and, I'm thinking of making one of me very own." He said, " Go where I gradutated, top notch for computer programming." I told him I loved Nintendo. He said, "really, you should go to Nintendo University. It's somewhere in Washington" I guess he ment Digipen. Now, I have my eyes set on it. Only *counts* 5 more years to go.

Sounds awesome, but it seems a little "techy" to me. I'll stick with the jobs that require lots of study.

DigiPen has a close relationship with Nintendo, but I'm not sure if they'd qualify as "Nintendo University." The curriculum certainly isn't Nintendo-specific, and despite their rental/sponsorship arrangements DigiPen is a separate entity.

Seriously think before you start considering DigiPen as a post-secondary option. If you're interested in getting into game development or design, there are far better-suited schools to go to. The worst is that you risk locking yourself into a specialized field; all well and good to work for minimum wage out of a garage developing games right out of university, but you may not have much patience for it in the long-term.

Also realize that even if NOA is hiring from DigiPen, think back to all the games developed by NOA.

yea i went to the open house just a couple months ago, i live in Chicago i went to washington for a vacation.....so i checked it out..i got a brochure, 2 free shirts, and a DVD

It sounds cool, but I wonder how many people here will make it in... "I am definatly going there!" not If they don't let you in... lol. It would be nice, but it will never happen to me.
