Homecoming Dance

There's a homecoming dance at my school this Thursday coming up. It's from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. So, it's after school. I know a lot of people that are going and such, but I don't think I'll go to it. There are a lot of reasons why I don't feel like going.

First of all, I don't like dances after school. Our school does dances during school hours most of the time. Plus, I'm going to be busy that night. I don't have a dress, and I'm too damn lazy to go out to buy one. I don't have a date either. The biggest reason of all: My crush isn't going. And I just made up another million excuses to not go, and some of my friends are thinking I'm insane to just stay home that night.

So, I'm about 80% positive that I'm staying home that night and sitting here surfing on the web. My friends still think I'm some insane freak to ditch this dance. So, has anyone else been like this? Does anyone on here have a homecoming dance or event coming up?

Re: Homecoming Dance

there was one on thrusday for me and I stayed home aswell. I just don't like dances, I feel very out of my element and I don't like to feel vulnerable. I always stay home from dances, because If I don't like doing them then why go. I especially hate it when a teacher forces you to go cuz its in school or when your friends laugh at you for not going the next day!

Re: Homecoming Dance

Mine's on Saturday.

I don't think really the point is to have a date or have your said crush there, but just to have fun and essentially make the best out of teenage life. Lots of people are discouraged to go to dances without a date and sometimes you feel left out but I'm sure there's a sizable amount of kids who just go there and have fun, right? Mhm. I don't know-- funny how I'm so self concious about other things. I admit I felt the same way some time back, but, well I'm not sure I'll ever ask out anybody anyway. I'm not really anything to shout about(I'm popular, but not for the right reasons). If you ask of personality, nobody gives a crap about that in my age group. At least at my school. I don't really have that either. Oh well.

Well, I'm not going to mine because well, maybe it's worth the hassle but I loathe that word and I'm the guy with the weak integrity who never wants to take stuff in order to acheive greater results. Transportation is a bit of an issue-- my parents would want to know why exactly I would want to go. And then, awkward moments would probably be rendered-- I'm not sure whether they would understand-- then again, it might just be the price. My parents are dirt cheap people. Won't buy anything if it's not on sale. I guess they may be a little wiser on financial matters, but hey, hoarding all that-- would you say were happy if you died tommorow? Yeah. And I guess I have better things to do-- not really. I just have an anxiety of ...interacting with anybody outside of my home. I must be cynical or something, because I'm really nervous how ...well, kids can have shifty attitudes. And that stuff, I can't really take. I don't know, I just feel that most of the teenage population are immature, overly horny kids who don't really care about anything except getting laid someday. Well, that's what I see in my peers. But ah, I don't know.

Re: Homecoming Dance

Well... I have my uni ball coming up. The theme is "black, white and bling" and I'm really forward to it. I'm going with my girls (no, I don't have a date or a boyfriend ... meh- I'll live XD). I've got my outfit sorted and I'm really hyped about going- because if there's one thing that I love, it's dancing.

I do remember though that once in high school I didn't go to a school dance. It was for the same exact reasons as you. It was a dress up party and I stayed home and read a book/played video games. Apparently it was terrible- the music ranged from Britney to Good Charlotte O_o, and a fight broke out which caused the dance to finish early.

You know, I do wish that I went though. All my high school girl's (who go to uni with me now) still laugh about it cause the fight that broke out was supposedly very funny. It may have ended early, but it's still a memory that they all share. I'm thinking that maybe you should go just for fun- you never know, something good may happen^^. But that's up to you

Re: Homecoming Dance

Go. Fun times are to be had at dances. They really bring out the wild side of some people you wouldn't expect it to. I say go, because it only happens once a year.

Re: Homecoming Dance

Here's another big reason why I'm not going, there's going to be LOADS of people I dislike there. Yes, I'm one of those people who dislike almost everyone that shows up at dances and other random events. I'm so sterotypical.

Well, it's on Thursday. Tickets are $5.00. I might be able to talk my parents into buying that expensive outfit. I still have a chance to go. o-o *flips a coin* I don't think I'll have fun, but I think I will. *confused herself again*

Re: Homecoming Dance

Aw hey- don't let that stop you from having fun! Just hang with your girls and ignore those you aren't fond of. I still encourage you to go... but if you really think that you won't enjoy yourself, and may feel uncomfortable around those who you don't like- then fair enough. Don't go.

It's supposed to be a night of fun. Like I said earlier, something good may happen, but if you really aren't for it, then do what's most comfortable for you.

Re: Homecoming Dance

Mine's on October 1st. I'm looking forward to it. All I have to say is, even if you don't have a date, you can still go with friends, and have just as much fun.

Re: Homecoming Dance

I passed up going to the dance with the homecoming princess for my class last year because I was cheap. I regret it this year.

Whatever decision you make is fine, but make sure it is one you'll be happy with in the future.

Re: Homecoming Dance

You guys are lucky. The last real dance we had was winter of my freshman year. Every year our class officers tell us we are going to have a dance this year, but no. My school system is just really messed up. Last year, we almost got a dance, but the principal retired and we got a new one that cancelled our dance. I just want one dance before prom, chances are, I won't.

Re: Homecoming Dance

Our homecomming dance is sometime in October. I probably won't go due to the fact tickets will cost $45.00 like they did last year and I doubt that any of the girls I like will even go to the homecoming dance. So I may just go to Gateways homecoming, seeing as there are girls there I like and it should be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Re: Homecoming Dance

Heh, I went to homecoming last year. ^_^ Not going this year though.
You don't have to be THAT fancy for homecoming. I just borrowed an old dress from my sister, because I have no dresses.
It wouldn't have taken very long to get ready for it IF my sisters hadn't gone all "Emily's going to her first dance! OMG!" and held me hostage for like five hours to do my hair and make-up. -_-;
I had some fun there, because I found one of my firends early on in the dance.
Overall though, it wasn't that good. My feet started hurting after a bit, the food and drinks ran out after half an hour, and about an hour into it I was ready to go home.
Heck, if my feet hadn't been killing me and if the "once you come to the dance, you have to stay until the end" rule, I probably would have walked home an hour before it was over.
So, overall it's a valuable lesson in life.
School dances suck. Don't go to anything short of prom.
...Not even sure I'll go to THAT...
Crashing parties, though, is an entirely different matter. >:3

Re: Homecoming Dance

Meh, I went in some blue jeans and a red t-shirt. You guys don't need to be really fancy. But forty bucks a ticket? Dang that sucks. We already had Homecoming, I'm always the center of attention.
