If someone has poor grammar or spelling ability, it doesn't make them a 'noob'. I dont know you; so forgive me if I'm wrong but judging from your post I'd say you're hardly an elite yourself.

Re: A question about newbies

Because I said I was an elite, right?

Noob- Plainly an idiot. Someone who is annoying online a USUALYL TYPIZ IN CAPZ WID LOTZ OF MISSPEKLLING N GARMMIR!

Taken from definition #8 from urbandictionary.com

P.S. You don't know me, so I'm automatically not an elite? God forbid I don't gain the respect of one T-Nemesis because I don't spend all day wanking in the Zelda or New Members section.

Edit: The fact that your dumbass post got deleted doesn't give you permission to instant message me. Please don't ever do so again, even if you feel the need to proclaim your bad taste.

The fact you called someone else a noob suggests you think you are.

Uh, yeah. Just incase you didn't quite catch it the first time; I said the following:

So tell me where exactly I said 'You are not an elite because I dont know you'.

Right there.

If hating stupidity and ill-begotten grammar makes me an elitist, then I must be the elite of the elite then.

If you took note you would see that I said 'Judging from your post', if there's something else I'm missing than PM me about it. No need to ruin a good thread.

Then why add that unneccessary "I don't know you" in the front?

Forget this, I hate fighting on this messageboards. It's full of idiots.

You did start it.

And don't worry about what a noob is, or what a n00b is, or what a newb is. Just enjoy the site, uphold the rules, and follow the basic guidelines of spelling and grammer. It's not that big of an issue.

I said to PM me but you didnt; so Im gonna assume its okay for me to post this here.

1. I said 'I dont know you', due to the pure fact that I dont know you. What I mean is what you posted seemed extremely reminiscent of a newb and at the same time gave the impression you thought you were 'elite'. But seeing as I've never seen any of your posts before I didn't know if it was a one off post or if you really did think you were so elite; so I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

Re: A question about newbies

I don't consider myself a newb or a n00b. Although I certainly consider you a n00b. You become a vet after two years and when you have common sense and post non-spammy posts and you don't flame.

^ And you're calling who a n00b?

Funny. I've have recollections of some guys that have been hear two years plus blow up. Well, vaugely. Just because being two years dosen't automatically make you a vet by default, although it probably helps to have surrvived that long, right? Mhm. I don't know.

Uhhhhhhhh, no! You're definatlly a newb. But anyways it doesn't matter who is a veteran or a newb, all that matters is the intelligence of the person. A veteran can be a n00b as much as others can, so not all newbs are n00bs. But this topic has been pretty much answered and it's getting way off the original meaning of the topic.

Who is 'you'? If you're referring to me, that's just hiliarous

Anyway
A newb is somone who is new to a forum and not familiar with the rules etc. There isn't a defined amount of time until you are no longer a newbie; it's just until you learn.
A n00b/noob is someone who deliberately posts spam or flames.

You're right; but I said ability. Like on other forums I know someone that has good common sense and always has something good to say; but because he is dyslexic people call him 'n00b' because it appears he just isn't putting effort into his posts.

Re: A question about newbies

I would say that a "newb" is a new member who is still learning how to act in a forum. You could be considdered as not being a "newb" once you stop using short-hand typing (you = u etc.) and start posting non-spam posts. I know everyone has said this but that is the way it is.

Oh, and a vet is someone who has studdied veteranery science, not a forum-goer

Yeah, but most online idiots (I refuse to use the word n00b) tend to type in bad grammar and spelling on purpose, becasue they seem to think that an online fourm is a place where you can, 'tyep leik dis' becasue they are idiots that want to rush their posts and are, 'too lazy' to type proper spelling and grammar, which is a huge thing that i expected around here if you want to gain respect.

Your's isn't perfect either. :\ But yeah I do expect people to at least try to spell correctlly and use good grammar. At least that shows me that they are really trying and they don't use 1337 on purpose.

Re: A question about newbies

You have to be really cool like Peefy to be not considered a noob. Being a vet to me, means being respected by alot of members, and hanging on the forums and irc for more than 2 years.

Suck up.

Anyway, I read from page one to page three, and all I saw was people typing: "N00b, newb, a n00b, you are one too, I don't think I am, newbie, nubbbbb". I don't know, I feel like there's a swarm of words of "n00b" and "newb" over and over and in the end, people are just going in circles.

of cuorse i can typedd liek tis nd totlakly disgrgards of any llogiacal wordsing.

But I do believe that a few grammar mistakes here and there won't make that much of a difference. If people are going to pick hairs apart one by one and calling each other "n00bs" or "newbies" whenever there are a few mistakes in their sentences, they are not that much different from the victims of verbal abuse (er, text abuse) anyway. A vet would never call another member a "n00b" or a "newbie" so that he or she can feel so much better than newcomers.

Of course, if certain new members act stupidly and basically talk **** from their asses, then yeah, we can say that they are n00bs, etc, etc, etc. Then again, vets sometimes don't act all that nice anyway. Ho ho ho.
