Bathroom Books

Maldrea and I are sitting here, atop my bed, typing on my laptop. We've decided that we would put together a thread of a rather...peculiar...nature. You see, we have this theory that the books/publications one has in their bathrooms tells a good deal about a family. What do ours tell you about us? What books do you have in your "loo"?

1.) "God's Leader for a Nation: Abraham Lincoln"--This book is a story-lined biography of one of our favorite U.S. Presidents, and a lot of the resources are from his own journals.

2.) "Dogtags & Religion"--This one our dad wrote--it's the story of his early life, and how God, Himself, personally drew him out of a life of demonic oppression and into one of power and of a sound mind.

3.) "The Answer to Life"--Written by Paul Little (a personal friend of Billy Graham's--who wrote the Foreward), this book focuses on the true meaning of life...

4.) "Still Me"--The late Christopher Reeve's autobiography. His story is a long one, and packs a punch.

5.) "Search-A-Word" & "Bible Find-A-Word Puzzles"--these books have passed through the doodling hands of every family member over the years. We seem to like to draw more than we search for words, but then again, "a picture is worth a thousand words," so we figure we're set.

6.) "Reader's Digest" from December 1998--This publication is full of tons of different articles, comics/jokes, and critiques. There is something for everyone in them.

7.) "Main Street, Italy"--Being Italian-Americans, we always like to catch up on the mother-country. This book, written in the 60s, is quite entertaining, actually. All 542 pages tell us who we're not, and why we should be that way ;0P' Adobanza!

Well, there you have it, folks. That's the LaFazias in a ..well, in a book-shell. We hope you enjoyed our little "soli", and we look forward to reading your own family lists.

(Maldrea and BBD)+

Re: Bathroom Books

Haha we don't keep books in our bathroom. I think it's nasty how some people can read while doing a #2. I mean...ew. My sis sometimes takes her SP in there! She used to try to take mine, but I caught her and stopped her.

Anyway. Yeah. My mom sometimes brings the newspaper, but we don't keep any books in there.

Re: Bathroom Books

My floor is littered with books. Going... potty... requires reading material. It just does.

Currently:

-A Dilbert comic collection

-Dave Barry's Only Travel Guide You'll Ever Need (One of the most hilarious things ever written.)

-Some old MAD books. You know, like from MAD magazine.

-Some magazines.

-An old newspaper.

And other stuff I can't remember at the moment...

Re: Bathroom Books

Whoa...I do think that reading in the bathroom is strange. Let me say something...

"Why do you read magazines in the bathroom? I asked out of pure curiosity to my father.

"well, if you're going to be sitting there for a while, you may as well being doing something!"

I don't sit on the toilet long enough to read...<.<

Anyway...

We have tons of outdated magazines in our first floor bathroom, like Newsweek, and National geographic and catalogues from various places, and the same + a Farside um...book with lots of comics in it in my parent's, but my brother and my bathroom has nothing. ^_^

Yay.

Re: Bathroom Books

Well, in the dunny at the moment there's The Adults Only Joke Book 3. Very very funny stuff found within those pages.

But what's in there changes from day to day. Sometimes it's the paper. Sometimes it's video game magazines, sometimes it's junk mail.

Once upon a time I had the 'Fair Dinkum Dunny Companion' book, basically full of trivia and things like that, great for a pick up and read and perfectly suited to the dunny.

Re: Bathroom Books

I don't really have alot of bathroom reading material. Come to think of it I have pretty much nothing in the bathroom, when I do feel like reading I usually just grab a gaming manual and head off.

Oh, and Maldrea is an old skool ZU member.

Re: Bathroom Books

*Checks bathroom*.....O.k., I don't really have a lot of reading material in my. Its just random stuff, like art magazines for my mom and Harley Davidson magazines for my dad. Currently, there is a Benjamin Moore paints magazine in my downstairs bathroom. And upstairs there's a Blue Knights magazine. I don't read any of it, cause well...I'm not in there long enough.

Re: Bathroom Books

OH MY GOD! HAHA! READING IN THE BATHROOM?! *falls out of chair laughing her head off*

I don't read in the bathroom that often. Let's see what I actually have in here.

*goes to check around her bathroom to see if there's any reading material in there*

Haha, there's nothing in there. I might occasionally bring in a Cosmo Girl or Seventeen magazine in there though. It usually comes back out, too.

Seconded-- I'm not really a fan of the room as it is. My bathroom's pretty cramped as it is and well, taking on both the thoughts of disposing stool and reading is a bit too much for me. Rarely do I feel better after going in the bathroom regardless-- I just feel really fiilthy and whatnot. I guess I could throw in some magazines there though.

Re: Bathroom Books

Heh, nice topic for this thread.

I never read anything in the bathroom. It's not like I will set there for 10 or 15 mins long. >.>
However my aunt always has magazines and newspapers laying on the floor of the bathroom. And of course sometimes she is in there for a long periods of time because she is reading...

Re: Bathroom Books

My dad used to keep issues of Readers Digest in the bathroom, along with the occasional magazine or Fry's Electronics ad. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore, as the bathroom is devoid of all reading material, save for labels on washroom products. =P

I don't spend enough time in there to read, really. I'm not one to read while doing my business, anyways.
