Nah... it's just natural disasters. It's not like some priest writing a version of the Bible started going: "Earth is going to die and it all starts with this and this". We've gone through worse and we are still here. Be positive.

I feel sorry for the people in New Orleans and Mississippi.

I was watching the news and they said that 900,000 or so people across the state has no power.

I just want to give my condolenses to the victims of hurricane katrina and their families, i couldn't believe my eyes when i see what it did to new orleans! and on top of that all the looting....it's very bad

Poor New Orleans, and all who got hit by Katrina... this must be the tragedy of a lifetime for them. I truly feel for those who lost their homes.

And I feel just the slightest slice of resentment that Katrina has now boosted our gas prices over a dollar. ****ing ouch.

Not bigger in size, more compact in power I believe. Also, I think their strengths should match up pretty much equally. It's just because New Orleans' geographic feature is at a disadvantage, that's why the entire city was flooded. That area is like a giant sinkhole.

Fortunately for myself, I was not in the way of Katrina. Also, I'd like to offer my condolences to all the ZUer's and their friends and family who were affected by Katrina. Katrina just changed history in a few short hours.

Good point. Besides, in the bible it said something like the end of the world will not be caused by floods but by burning up the earth!

I was watching the news this morning and got a glimpse of the damage. It's incredible. I definitely express my deepest hopes and prayers to the victims of the hurricane.

I live in AL too up in Ohatchee, the night Katrina hit, my power went out and the wind was blowing PRETTY bad my backyard looked like a tornado went through it! But other than that It was fine!

Gosh this hurricane has affected the whole country economically...

Has come and gone or absorbed rather. The remenants of it were last seen in the area of Quebec. This is much more serious than I'd image-- with casualty estimates shooting above a thousand. Although they may be a little inaccurate at the time, it's still nothing to forget. My prayers and condolences to those who were lost.

Now the problem is looting and crime. People have shot at rescue helicopters. There has been rape and beatings. The problem is that they are now afraid to rescue people because people have shoot at people trying to help.

Things like this bring out the best and the worst in people.

My parents sent me pictures from their house in Florida, the fence is down, big ficus tree down, but no serious damage. My heart goes out to all of you that really lost something.
