Mac Mini help
Hey people, I've gotten a Mac Mini recently and I'm still getting used to everything. Right now I need help with Windows Media Player. I'm trying to download the OSX version but Safari doesn't know which application to use to install it. Can somebody help me out?

Re: Mac Mini help
Download the Mac version and you should be prompted to install it. If you want to do the smart thing just get iTunes, it's much better.

Re: Mac Mini help
Well I need because a lot of videos I need require WMP, and not Quicktime. I'm not prompted, and it just downloads the file but won't open it.

Re: Mac Mini help
Okay, thanks. But what does OSX use to install programs? I downloaded it, opened it, and all I got was a jumble of text.

Re: Mac Mini help
I'm not expierienced with Macs, but you may be required to compile the application. I am more familiar with Windows and Linux, but not Mac. I suggest you hit google with some queries

Re: Mac Mini help
OSX installs programs the same way Windows does... sometimes. Either they don't need to be installed (the program already runs fine) or they get installed the normal way (using the programs built-in installer, like on Windows)
I'm not sure what your problem is. I havn't used a Mac much since my friend lent me one of his old OS9 PowerPC's, and that was about 4 years ago. I'd like to say the process of running a new program hasn't changed much since then. The problem you're having just sounds like you're trying to run the Windows version. I'll see if I can find something. OK, found something. Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en Now, whether you've already tried it or not, read the instructions further down. It says you need Stuffit Expander (Mac equivilent of WinZip) to open it. http://www.digitalriver.com/dr/v2/ec...N=15&sid=52277 <-- Download Stuffit Expander (comes bundled with a free trial of some other app) There ya go.

Re: Mac Mini help
Well, maybe I can help, you have to download the mac version of the program, you can do that in the first link that Captian cornflake put in his post. When you downloaded the program there are 3 files on your ( is it called desktop, I'm dutch and I don't know the translation ) well the main page, one is called "windows media installer", press it. And I think you lnow what to do from that point
. This is what I did to install it, if you have other questions about mac, just PM me. I'm a mac user for years ![]()
