Tamagotchi. =3

Does anyone besides me have, or even know what a Tamagotchi is? As I recall it was a bit of a craze a few years ago [for me at least ] and I eventually lost my old one.

But I have just newly acquired one, and I remember why I was addicted the first time. They're really fun, and kill their share of time. Anyone else have one? What do you guys think of 'em?

[Just FYI for the mods, I wasn't sure whether this should go in gaming, since it technically isn't a game, and I wasn't sure if I should put it in Entertainment since it's not a show or movies or anything of that nature, so I put it here in General Chit-Chat. Feel free to move it if it was wrongly placed.]

Yeah, that's about the only downfall to the little toys, they recquire quite a bit of your attention. At least, I remember the old ones needing constant attention, and one mess up could mean a rowdy little Tamagotchi.
But this new one isn't as time consuming as I recall the other one being. It still recquires attention, but not as much as the old one. Which is nice.

I had like, three of those things; two died in piles of their own crap 'cuz I wasn't there to clean it up. The last one got hurled into a lake by accident. Oh well, they're good memories anyway...

Re: Tamagotchi. =3

Gaming, or Entertainment... I can't decide. It'll stay here, just because it likes to mess with my brain and be both. >_>

I had lots of tamagotchi's when I was in like, third grade and stuff. I loved them so much, I even got the tamagotchi game boy game. It make my stomach turn when the little follow died.. it showed a horrible image of the guy with x's for eyes. ;-; bye bye little tama.

Are those things still around? I don't think I'd get one even if I found them around. I've had my fill of digital pets, I think. It was more fun when everyone had them, because you could... uh, show them off or something. I had a cool golden one. =3

Re: Tamagotchi. =3

Yeah they still thrive.

But yeah, they were more fun when everyone had them, but it's cool with me since my bro has one. Me and him can compare ours and such. My brother's mean though, whenever the tamagotchi doesn't cooperate he just puts it in time out. -_-
But yeah, my pet's in a UFO form right now, it's hella cool. Reminds me of the Kirby UFO.

Oh yeah, I used to have one of those, it was fun for a couple of days, but it was far too time consuming. I just went to a new school this year because of my new grade, and I recently learned that 4/5 kids in my old school a grade below me now have tamogotchi pets 0_o.

But I prefer my real dog to those tamogotchis any day

Re: Tamagotchi. =3

Yes, I used to own a Tamagotchi a few years back. I remember the day that my mother bought it for me. I honestly didn't have a want for it, but after the first day, I really started to like it. I never bought any others though, but I did buy an old "Digimon" one. Nowadays, I honestly think that Nintendogs may become the new hit, and Tamagotchi Connection may be for kids that can't own a DS or just are fans of the game. Will I buy either one? Most likely not, but it's still fun to chat about them.

Re: Tamagotchi. =3

I had a Yoda Giga Pet which are really similar to the Tamagotchi's. It was probably the best Christmas gift I ever got! It was so much fun and it was Yoda and I'm a Star Wars freak.

I remember everybody having all the different kinds of electronic pets for awhile. They were the things to have for awhile there. I got mine when I was still in junior high so that was back in 1998 I think.

Anyway, I remember 'em. I had one. They're much fun. I wish I could find it now! ^^

HOW ABOUT TAMAGOTCHI ON YOUR DS!

This would make Nintendo bucket loads, oh and this is not a rumor!

This is big news for Nintendo, maybe another 10/10 from famitsu!

What was that game about? Feeding a thousand-year old, wise Jedi master, playing with him and cleaning up his... poo-poo? Hmm, maybe not.

I had a Tamagotchi ages ago. Well, I'm not sure if it was an official Tamagotchi or some cheap clone, but it was just like one. It was a dinosaur, and it died pretty often because I had no way to take care of it while I was in school. Yay.

There's one thing I never figured out about it... When I pushed one button, it showed an obscure animation of a hand moving back and forth on the dino. And I didn't know whether that was supposed to be petting or hitting. I pushed that button a lot, and I never knew whether I was complimenting or punishing it. Weird.

Actually, that's not too far from the truth. Oo;;

You had to feed him or he would get mad and start pouting. If you didn't give him a bath, he would get mad too. Or I think you could give him a bath...It's hard to remember now.

If I remember correctly, he's trying to train you to be a Jedi. The different games that you do make him happy that you're progressing. You also had to clean his house and a few other things that I can't remember.

No poo-poo though. Yoda may have been 900 years old but he could still go poo in the swamp without any help! ^^

...Right. I used to think that Yoda has some dignity, but that just completely destroyed my impression.

Then again, he also seemed like a complete fruitcake in the Empire Strikes Back. And he was still cool. Bah, whatever.

Very true, this is indeed not a rumor. I have my sources from GameCube Europe.com, DSGaming.com, and also from their Official Website (which is in Japanese). According to the picture of the magazine DSGaming gave us, it seems that you can have more than one 'Gotchi, it will live in it's own home, you will become a dentist, and there will be different buildings you can go to: so far I've counted 5. I believe four of them is a Beauty Salon (for make-up), a Dentist Office, Your house, and a Candy Shop (I also noticed there's a castle in the backround...I wonder if you can go there).

One thing that did surprize me is the dentistry. I take it that depending on your 'Gotchi, and how gentle you are with the stylus will determine if your 'Gotchi will cry or not....interesting.

Re: Tamagotchi. =3

My brother used to have one when I was really little. I thought it was really cool, and I always wanted to play it, but he never let me. I remember his little animal thing grew to be a octopus-like animal, before it died. Did they die? Something happened to it, and he stopped playing. A few years back he found it again and gave it to my sister, and now that she's lost it, it's gone for good. I wish I had gotten to play back when that sort of thing was unique and fun...

Dude that kicks A S S. Ever since I heard about Nintendogs I thought if that did well they should totally make a Tamagotchi game for the DS. With online capabilites and the voice recognition...ohhh yes. That sounds VERY promising.
