What's your daemon?

So maybe not many people have read the "His Dark Materials" books but those who have know what I'm talking about here. I'm kind of fuzzy on the details, but in the book the character Lyra comes form a world where each person has their own daemon familiar that is always by their side. Children's daemons can shapeshift into various animals (they talk), but as the child grows into an adult the daemon assumes the shape of an animal that best reflects their person's personality. The daemon's are a part of them, like the little voice in a person's head only in a physical form. (I hope this already hasn't been posted)

So, if you had a daemon, what permanent animal form do you think it would take and why do you think that, what would the animal look like, what's its name, and what kind of personality do you think it would have? Note that daemon's are only "real" animals, not mythical animals and the daemon has to reflect your personality. I was inspired to make this thread by Baratona and Feline Witch, kudos to them!

I think my daemon would probably be a ring-tailed lemur, springy and not ordinary like me! It would just look like a normal ring-tailed lemur, and its name would be Julian. My daemon's personality would be focused, shifty, sly, but fun-loving. Please feel free to be more specific, I'm suffering from a creative lapse.

Great description. Yeah, I know the books. Really, the daemon is the soul. A person in her world is made up of three parts: the conscience (in the human), the body, and the soul (the daemon). When people in her world become adults, their daemons take the shape of something that reflect their personality. Also, the daemon is always of the opposite gender, except for a few people, and that's only a coincidence.

I'm not too sure what mine would be, but I was thinking either some kind of big dog (maybe a wolf, but they're depicted as cruel fighters in the book) because I'm loyal to my friends and family, and to myself. It could be a cat, or just something big like a bear. Either one of those would fit me.

Oh yeah, and his name would be...well...I don't know...maybe...Ezran...Ezra?...yeah, I don't know...

I'd want a panther... But I don't think that would reflect my personality. I think I'd have a small (like a cub) fox. Sly, cunning, playful, cheery -that's all I can think of for a small fox OO;. His name would be... Tomo I suppose.

I thought dogs were usually what the servants got? I haven't read the book in so long... (I like the animal Pan turned into though...)

My daemon would probably be a cat. I like sleeping, and hugs . I have no idea what it's name would be though. . . .

My daemon would probably be a black cat becuase it can be loving and cuddly but it can also be dark and sneaky. Sounds like me.

I'm foreign to the books but the concept seems simple, so I'll give it a try.

My best thoughts of my daemon counterpart probably is a timid, generally harmless creature that lacks esteem or ambition. And generally is pushed around by others. But still kind of cynical and malevolent in some way. Uhhm, a mouse?

My daemon would be a panther. There is a sort of powerful grace to panthers, one that emits self-control. And behind the lithe structure, there is strength.

A raven would be my daemon. I have to say, I am pleased. If I could choose, I'd either go with the Raven or a white snake. Very interesting, I'll need to check out those books.

I've never read those books but the animal that most reflect my personality would be a small squirrel. It lives in a forest and is very independent. It's also shy and likes to live all alone. It's name is Yavanna. (yeah, i got that from silmarillion but I like it so much)
