My mom was telling me.

Some 18 year old created the virus. Also, I heard that his punishment is that he is not allowed to use the internet again.

I got a question. How can they ban the internet from him? He could go over someone's house or something and go on the internet.

That's all? A ban from the internet? What are they going to do to enforce that? Keepa sharp eye out for him?

Umm, I think he should be punched by 10 persons, all of them being infected people, standing in a line to do it.

I think he should be slowly tortchered.

He is 18. If hes a US citizen he is no longer a minor. No jail time? No fine?

Any major news sites have a story about this, the punishment, or lack thereof seems a little.....well.... strange.

Oh yea, I forgot to say. It is possible/most likely that he will go to jail.

Actually i see no reason to hate the person, because if i had heard the corect reason that he did it it was to simply show the exploitable hole in XP's structure. Microsoft knew it was there and did not send out the patch for it until he made the virus that uses it. Now it soemone actually did wan tto do damage they could have done more. There is a lot of things that the worm could have done situated on people computers where it was.

So i say, the guy should almost be praised for keeping all you people safe from someone that did want to royally srew your computer. If what it takes is a virus to show peopel that they're in danger and Microsoft to get the updarte distributed then by all means let someone do it. It causes no permanent damage and now just about everyone runnign XP is safe from soemone that wants to use the hole to do damage.

actually didnt it say he made a remake of that worm then boasted about it on a site, i was on the computer while i heard it, i wasnt paying too much attention

It was some kid who altered it, only affectign 7,00 computers. But it does not solve anything in the investigation. Nothing at all.

edit: What it did was allow him to take control of infected computers later on. This is the kind of persont hat the original creator's worm was designed to get Microsoft to protect you from.
