I like both weapons and would have them both with me just in case. Swords are very good weapons but a best in stealth, guns are too loud (yeah I know there are things called suppressors ).

((I tried using an example that was a spoiler but I couldn't get the spoiler tags to work so I just deleted it.))
Swords are better for stealth? Maybe in Ninja Gaiden, but can you assassinate someone with a sword from far away? No.

Re: Guns or Swords

Well, this is an easy one for me. I hate guns, so I'll go with swords. I like the mystique that swords have. You know, with knights or samurais and stuff. It speaks to the imagination, whereas guns are, in my opinion, boring. It's just BANG! You're dead. No epic battles, no magic, nothing. Though in the end, they were (and still are) tools for killing.

Remember Spike and Vicious (Cowboy Bebop), they had gun fights except Vicious uses his katana sword and he puts up a great fight against Spike's gun (The Walther). Okay it's anime and all, but I think if you can really move with a sword that's an advantage.

Well, I've never seen it, so I don't have anything to say about that. But if you mean blocking bullets with a katana, that's impossible. But swords do have an advantage in close-range fighting...

I like both Guns and Swords equally. They both have their advantages and disavantages and can be both useful. So I have to say both.

lol, Yeah of course it's impossible. Vicious never used his katana to block bullets just moved around a lot. But what I meant was if you know when the enemy is about to shoot you could dodge the bullet at the right moment.

Re: Guns or Swords

Swords can be used as tools, as well as weapons. Guns are just weapons. That's something to think about.

Re: Guns or Swords

I agree with Daphanes. by the way I don't know if anyone mentioned or I just forgot you can't run out of sword But you can use it in the woods if you are lost. You would live longer with a sword. You couad use it to make shelter and a bow and arrows, you can only shoot a gun. that will keep you alive... for a little while...

Re: Guns or Swords

^ ..... HOLY CRAP! Anyway, I like swords better.this isn't really a reason but, I like swords because they are a challenge to fight with. you haveto go up close to hit. With a gun, you just shoot from wherever. I hope this makes sense.

Re: Guns or Swords

Swords are more powerful and more accurate then the typical handgun if you think about it, if you are standing face to face with the enemy they need a "Lucky" shot as you said to take you out, but with a sword you have complete control of the situation.

Then again my RPG character "Marius" wields dual pistols. I think they both have their effectiveness. In a fantasy world Swords would be more effective and in this one guns. I think guns show a more rebellious side where as swords show respect and honor.

^ what he said.
But I would prefer swords over guns because for a gun yes, you need practice to be able to support it and all, but for swords you need to train until you think you reached perfection.

You would rather fight a bear with a tiny shortsword instead of a shotgun?

I prefer swords but I would carry a gun. Anyone who picks them up has to know how to use them otherwise they get killed. Both require lots of skill to get perfection

Not all swords are tiny Elijah. And I think a sword is as effective as a gun if the person knows what he/she is doing.

Yup, they can be equal if you train right. But I still prefer guns.

Re: Guns or Swords

My brother has the same name. And by the way i perfer a broad sword or a saber than a short sword and yes I would perfer it. If I miss I would be out of ammo. If I miss with a sword I would be able to take another shot.
