Zelda Universe Wiki

For those of you familiar with the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia, Zelda Universe now has it's very own Wiki!

Not only will it serve as fun place to make articles about things in ZU, random topics and whatnot, but it will also play host to the Zelda Encyclopedia. Hopefully, with this software, the encyclopedia can become larger and more detailed then it was on the old ZU site. And the best of all is that the ZU Wiki, called The Zelda Effect, is a database of information that ANYONE can edit.

But for now, the place is very much at it's beginning, and the Main Page is still in the works as well. With a few articles in place as experimentals, we could use some other people helping us build a large Wiki. So feel free to register, browse around, and create and edit some articles!

Now, the first thing you'd probably want to know is how to add an article:

There is no simple "Add Article" button on Wiki. So there's a simple thing you must do to find yourself on a new page to play with.

The main page link for the ZUWiki appears as this:

Let's say you wanted to add a whole page just for Gorons. You would replace the text "Main_Page" with "Gorons", like so:

http://www.zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Gorons

From there, all you need to do is click the "edit" tabv at the top of your screen, and you can start making your article, or edit someone else's existing article. Note: Articles are formatted in HTML coding.

Yes, this Wiki shall be awesome. With your help, that is. For reference, you might want to look at the old Encyclopedia, but we are hoping to make this one much more detailed. So knock yourselves out

We are working on seperating the "Zelda Info" articles from the "ZU Info" (more humour, less serious) over there.

Cool, pretty much a ZU encyclopedia! I'm going to be helping some in there.

One question, though: Can there be articles on sites - past and present - throughout the community? I intended to do this myself with an encyclopedia, but we lost the database halfway through (This seems to fall as a third category rather than Zelda Info or ZU Info, hence why I'm asking). I'd have a blast with that, given all the places I've been (And researched).

Yeah sure, by replacing Zelda and Community with Zelda Community or what not in the section tag, it'll automatically create a section for that, so no problems doing that!

I have a question though. I created a Tatl article (on me, not the fairy) But it's not in community. I can't find it in any category unless I search Tatl. ...help?

Check the "Help" section in the Wiki to find out how to add your article to a section.

Basically, what you do is, anywhere in the article, you type this:

[[Category:Zelda]]

That will put it in the "Zelda" category.

Oh... and if people are going to be creating articles, it may be nice to register for the Wiki so we can see who wrote it >_>... there seem to be a few anonymous ones.

Please, when making articles... use good grammar, especially for the Zelda ones. It may also be good not to use "I" or "me" in these articles, because they aren't opinion... they are definition. Third person should work nicely.

This is excellent, I love this idea. I've currently added Sakon to the Zelda catagory and I'm planning on adding a hell of a lot more, lovely ideal. =^.^=

EDIT: I've added Poes, Cuccos, Grog, Ichiro, The Lens of Truth, Pierre, Sakon and Skull kid. Alot more to come.

I added a new one, on the ReDead! More are coming.

I keep adding them, I'm putting a signiture at the bottom of them. I think people should do that so it indicates who has made what.

Actually, please don't do that.

Because this is something that everyone is able to edit, people can add to your article or take away, etc. So really, it's not just you making it, but the whole of the community making the article because essentially everyone can go and edit it and add things.

Which also means admins and such don't really have power there, because everyone can edit everything. =P

Then instead of saying you made it, can you put in that you started it?

If you look at the history of an item (there is a tab for it next to edit), you can see who edited and started the page. Obviously the earliest edit is the one who began the page.

But you'll also see that many of the wiki pages have has LOTS of edits by lots of people! So no article actually belongs to a person.


Oh, and something to keep in mind... when making articles, make sure they are placed in the right category. We have six categories as of now:

1. Community
2. Gaming
3. Misc
4. Musak
5. Zelda
6. Zelda Community

Everything must go in those categories, unless you have created an article that does not fit in the six.

What is the zelda community for? 0.o
