Do you hate looser singers who try acting?
Okay, the reason I bring this up is because Holywood seems to let singers and/or athlets who are doing well (or are doing overly well) act in movies.
Now the recent movie in question that has me in an uproar is XXX 2. Why the hell did they get fat a$$ Ice Cube to be an action star? Okay, for you guys and girls out there that like action movies, let's evaluate some of the known action stars: Shacky Chan, Jet Lee, Van Damme, Arnold (don't ask me how to spell his last name!), Sylvester Stallone, Stephen Seagale, and the list goes on. What do all these guys have in common? They were either buff or knew a certain art of fighting that distinguished them from common people. Now, don't get me wrong, many of these actors have terrible acting. But to quote Alain Swan from "My favorite year" who said: "I'm a movie star, not an actor!" which is the case with action stars. They are action stars, not actors. As an actor (I acted a lot in high school and I still act in college) I know that there are a lot of unemployed actors out there that could sure in hell use a job. So let them play in the movie! (As long as they're buff, because that's what an action star is suppose to be.) I will leave you with this. An action star should be like Beowulf; the ultimate male in other words. Or he should at least be some sort of martial artists. What do you guys think about this?

Remember William Hung? He sings so badly, way off keys, and he's famous! What's with people these days!? Then he gets to act in a movie, which, hardly anyone watches it.

Re: Do you hate looser singers who try acting?
Ice Cube has been a couple of movies before, though. Just recently, I saw him in the family film 'Are We There Yet?'. He's also been in quite a lot of action movies; Anaconda, Ghosts of Mars, Torque, Three Kings (was that an action movie?). He's been in films since the early 90s as well. Just take a look at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001084/
I don't really mind singers becoming actors/action stars. Unless, we see Britney Spears do another movie. He he, imagine her as an action star? Terminator 4: Terminate Her. Or Jessica Simpson? *in the middle of a gun fight* Jessica: Who do I shoot at? Why don't I just go over there and talk to them? (insert other silly things she might possibly say).

Re: Do you hate looser singers who try acting?
As Mr. Spark points out, Ice Cube has done films before, and he is by no means a bad actor, he does well in Three Kings particularly. The thing about action films is, they are generaly designed as crowd pleasers, and so they choose these men for exactly tht purpose. Whether or not they are successful is an entirly different story, but the point is that they are not made, generally speaking, to showcase great film making.
As for bad singers becoming actors, yes there have been a few disasters, but there have also been some success stories, for example Mark Whalberg and Cher. Finally, as you class Beowulf as being the ultimate male, how do you feel about Gerard Butler then? |

Re: Do you hate looser singers who try acting?
They get into films because the films then make money and so do the actors.
If you don't like it, don't watch the movies, don't give them the money. I guess you don't do that already, but that's the best legal way that doesn't require you to do much. I can't say I care much about the subject. |

Re: Do you hate looser singers who try acting?
Mmm...I can't say that I really care either.
If they're good at singing, let them sing. If they're good at acting, let them act. If they're good at both, let them do both. If they're bad at both, let them do both. Don't expect anyone to like them, buy their products, and don't expect them to do both for much longer.
