Re: Vegetarians
*ahem* I am no vegetarian. I hate salad. No way no how am I sticking strictly to plants, I love meh meat. ^__^ Anyways, plants are living, but not in the same sense animals are, ya kno? You don't exactly cuddle with a rose. Or pet one. Or watch it jump around.

Re: Vegetarians
Hey, that's right! Plants were alive too! They might be, even, going down your throat. Where's PETA now?
Or is it People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants (PETP)? Oh, I see your point. You don't cuddle with one, but that doesn't mean it isn't alive. It's just a different state of "living".

Re: Vegetarians
I'd probably live longer if I were a vegetarian but I have to have my red meat. Clogging arteries with saturated fat from a Hardee's Thickburger is a great joy.
And besides the obvious "my meat tastes too good" argument, it's really hard to get a balanced diet if you're a vegetarian. You have to get your protein from somewhere and it's hard to do when you're eating just vegetables.

Re: Vegetarians
Am I the only vegitarian then? lol
You do know us vegitarians dont miss out on anything really right? I have a bacon substitue that tastes the same but is 100% meat free, I have quorn burgers, curry with quorn, meat free sausages (better than real ones) and so on. I'm really happy with a vegitarian diet. I used to be meat crazy but now the thought of eating it makes me feel sick

Re: Vegetarians
I don't think I can live without meat. Somethings about eating the animal can be sickining when you think about it, but heck, I still eat it. I like vegetables, but unfortunately I am allergic to some of them.
And Star Boy is right. You need to eat meat to get those proteins that make up the essential amino acids for your liver to make your bodies proteins. Ok, maybe I went too scientific right there. ^_~

Re: Vegetarians
Meh. I like the meat. I think about how it's an animal, and at one time was alive and moving....and then I just shrug and bite in. It doesn't really affect me much to eat something that was once alive. I don't find it somehow immoral or anything like that....I just think, "Hey, I'm survivin'."
By the way, I don't mind vegetarians, but I hate the ones that frickin attack you with ads and posters and stuff saying you're going to burn for eating cows...or something weird like that. I think they should just live their lifestyle without trying to change mine. Anyway, vegetarians = ok, PETA = annoying hippies. Also, if anybody on the boards is in PETA and are offended by the above, eh, live with it. ::EDIT:: I looked over my post, and noticed I was kinda hostile. I think I need to explain. I think it's cool that you fight for your cause, but some things PETA does is just bull crap. For example, they have billboards saying that Jesus was a vegetarian. Yeah, that's why the passover meal included lamb. Yeah, it's stuff like that which annoys me. Saying, "Animals are awesome" is ok with me.

Re: Vegetarians
I'm not a fan of red meat and most pork products, but poultry, especially when fried and placed on a kaiser roll with a slab of colby cheese, or with copious amounts of ketchup on the side, is my downfall. The problem is, even though I would like to be health-conscious, I am not a fan of most vegetables. Potatoes are good no matter how they are cooked, corn is tolerable, and spinach is good when at room temperature (it tastes rather a lot like freshly-mowed grass.) Other than that, I'm not partial to most greens. My diet is not large in range; I'm a fan of starches, which is definitely not good. Hopefully, when I have somewhat more control over my own life, I can cancel out all the possibly-adverse effects through an exercise regimen. I'd like to be thinner, but there is no chance of my ever obsessing about my weight like some people do.
In a way, I'm a true environmentalist. I don't eat anything that comes from the earth =p |

Re: Vegetarians
MEAT.
I'm definitely not a vegetarian. I'm fine with them, but groups like PETA annoy me. And... uh... MEAT. -IANVS

Re: Vegetarians
I'm no vegan even though I love animals (and every other living thing.) Eating animals is natural, for starters. And at my house, not a dinner goes by without some meat on the table. Also, I like some meats, though I'm not a fan of mammal meat (cow, pig, lamb..) I tried to be a vegetarian once, but it was very difficult in my family. Especially with my brother around. He'll take any opprotunity to tease me ceaselessly.
