Huge Power Outages - Terrorist Attack or Overload?

Well, in case you haven't seen the news in the last hour, most of the North Eastern US has no power at all. This includes NYC. Also, Ottawa and Ontario Canada have no power. Right now, it's believed to not be an act of terrorism, but some sort of power grid accident. Anyway, just thought I'd point it out. Eesh. First the computer worm, now this.

Wait. What if the computer virus (msblast.exe) shut down the power systems?!

What if the terrorists spread the virus to begin with?

Really big power outage blacking out the most densely popluated area of the US...interesting coincidence. But I really have no idea as to causes. I'm just happy I don't live there.

I'd say it's a power grid accident, not a terrorist attack.

I think it's just a big accident.

I mean, we're in the middle of summer right now. It's quite possible that the power plant at Niagra Falls (that's the one that went out, isn't it?) was just overloaded.

I really don't know what is going on, I just know it is EVERYWHERE on the news and radios.

Also, all of Quebec is out.

Yea, I just think it's a accident not a terriorst attack. I hope my family down at NYC wer'nt on one of the Trains. I'm watching it now, thats how it was like when NYC had a power out. I miss my home..

I was talking to my cousin in my hometown in Philadelphia and luckily they still have power.

Quebec is still powered. They're on a different grid that's powered by the LG1 and LG2 Hydro facilities up near Hudson's Bay.

Ontario is the only Canadian province affected.

They just said on the news that the backouts were from "Natural Causes" .... somehow I don't quite get that.

Some are saying a lightning strike at an NYC power plant, others are saying it's a fault at a Canadian facility, then there's the lovely one: terrorists.

Jeeze, something goes wrong, that word comes to mind first. -_-

Yeah, everyone is paranoid and thinks anything that goes wrong must have something to do with terrorists. It has got to be really confusing right now to live in those cities. Just imagine the airports.....

Well as i said on September 11, In NY happens the best and the worst, but in my country we have those shutdows like once every 6 years.

it was an accident, its all over i think, they figured the problem and are fixxing it bah none of the terrorist that they have now could be smart enuff ^_-

if no terrorist is smart enough then how did they highjack(sp?) 4 planes and smash 3 of them into important U.s. buildings? also we in the U.s. are kinda in a war with terrorists and that possibility is very high. how they would be able to pull it off i just cant even guess....
i really dont have an opinion of what did it though. do E.M.P.s exist? if they do maybe that is what did it.....

Heh, I suddenly love living in Alberta, lol it's kinda funny how the U.S is blaming Canada and Canada is blaming the U.S, the latest report is that a lightning bolt hit the power plant in NY....weird.
