Summer Plans

What are your plans for this Summer? I know that this might seem early (seeing as we're just getting into Spring), but this nicer weather always makes me think of the Summertime.

I am going to do my Physics research with Doc Gizis at the University of Delaware (my uni), again, for the first half of the summer. If all goes well, I will be going to the University of Leicester in England for a 6-week program in July and August for MORE Physics research. All I need is for my application to be approved!! w00t! (Of course, then I need a passport, working permit, and cashola, hehe. details >_> psh).

I also plan on completing my recordings of the Bible so I can begin giving CDs of the *.mp3's away. I've been working on this project for like...a year, now. It's been VERY rewarding. :0) Ah, yes, and I want to keep working on my novel.

So, what about you guys? Any amazing plans? (I consider going to England super-amazing...I'm rather hyped up about the whole thing). Tell, TELL!!

Re: Summer Plans

I'm actually getting my first job this summer, working at a summer camp as a counselor. Sure, I have to babysit second graders, but my first job is my first job! I look forward to it, actually, because I need some cash of my own. I live off of allowance as it is right now =P.

I got this thing in the mail that goes to all high school students who do exceptionally well or something... I think it was from the Honor's Society. It was some thing where I could have gone to colleges and taken courses in things that interest me over the summer =/... too bad I already got a job.

I've been there before yes. It's not as big as woodstock.. Just a small festival in the middle of norway called storåsfestivalen. It had a nice feeling though and plenty of good bands last year so I'm definately going this year as well.

Re: Summer Plans

Wow, a camp counselor's job is a GREAT experience. Looks good on resumes, too :0) I think you'll learn a lot about yourself, this summer. And you're fortunate, my family could never afford to give allowances ;0) I used to spend the day combing the parking lots for pennies so I could buy a snack :0P' no lie.

And that would also be a good opportunity (the university thing), but hey, life is all about decisions. Personally, I say you'll have plenty of time to take college-classes in the future. Get some work experience, first.

And Elin, nice--do you have any friends that are going with you?

Re: Summer Plans

Hmmm... Your summer is our winter, so my family will be having our annual Christmas in July get together. We can all get smashed and play Ping-Pong (not that I drink), and eat roast and stuff like a real Christmas. And then we do it again in December for real, MUHUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Re: Summer Plans

*raises hand* Im spoiled! Im spoiled yes I am!
I don't have a allowance, all I do is ask my parrents for money and they give it to me.
But I have a part-time job now and besides, it doesn't feel right to ask them for money anymore... I start feeling guilty.

Im probably gonna put in more hours at Subway for some extra cash. Lots of new games comming out this year and I need to start saving.
I also might do more community service at my the preschool I used to go to ,for daycare. I love those widdle munchkins! Especialy this one kid named Vinny; all the does is sleep on my back! Cutie! *heart heart*

Oh and sleep. Sleep is nice. Sleep is very nice.

I'm hopefully going with a friend of mine. At least he has said he wants to go.. Just hoping he will have the opportunity. Last year I went by myself and it would have been much more fun to be there with someone.

Re: Summer Plans

My plans for the summer? Well.... nothing acutally. How sad is this?

I'm planning my little "mini" vacation from work around my birthday, and then I plan on having my wisdom teeth removed.... and turning one year older. Whoo. What great *fun*

I am planning on going on a carribean cruise sometime next year though, possibly during Feb. I know that doesn't count as "summer" plans, but it's my only chance at a real vacation in the next year. ^^

Re: Summer Plans

I'm probably going to be taking classes during the first half of the summer so I can get some more out of the way. During the second half of the summer, I'm going to fly to Los Angeles because I have a cousin that lives there. I'm just going to hang around with her and her husband for about a week and they're going to show me all of the sights and sounds.

I'm pretty pumped up about going because I want to get a feel of how it would be to live there since I'm thinking about moving over when I get finished with college.

Re: Summer Plans

Ooh this summer is going to be da bomb! Me and my family are going back to our home country (the Domenican Republic) for two weeks of vacation in June (so I desperately need to find a job....now!). Last time I went we were mostly in the western part, this time we are heading east (or is it visa versa...it's been awhile). Well after that nice vacation, I'm going to try to work some more to earn money and find an appartment and pay off as I work. After that, I really can't see myself doing anything...going back to school I guess. Yeah the begining of the vacation is going out as a bang, but the rest will slowly be rocks and debri (which I will be helping picking up from my job(s)).

Re: Summer Plans

I am unsure of my plans for the Summer. If my dad doesn't come, then I am going to work full time, having 2 jobs, and continue living with my Uncle.
I am keeping the job I have now which I work as a part time sales associate in Hecht's (A department store). For the second job I want to get is working with Autism and Mentally Retarded children and teach them things that is not easy for anyone to do. My cousin is Autistic and several other kids I know, so I know how to handle them. Not to mention the pay is good as well.

If my dad comes, then I guess I still have to work part time because he will need my help for things and to get settled here. This Summer I decided not to take classes at Uni because it's my 8th semaster in a row and I need a break. x.x

Re: Summer Plans

I''m probably going up for Summer School, that is in a way both good and bad. I'll get the hard stuff out the way over the summer but I won't be able to keep up with the gaming world as much. Meh, Planet Gamecube isn't blocked at school so hopefully they'll keep on updating. I also plan on spending a few hours each day with my uncle, he builds and sells computers as a living so I'll help him assemble the computers while he teaches me how they work. I hope I can get some martial art lessons but every summer I plan to go, it never happens. Other than that I'll just be lazing around, eating ice cream, sipping lemonade and playing videogames...maybe I can smuggle my old Gameboy to school and play some of the classic games at lunch. I can't take my SP because my brother would notice that it's gone.

Re: Summer Plans

Seems like many of us have pretty definite plans for the summer (desirable or not).

Fia, you should try to start using "People First" language. Like so: "Disabled Kid" goes to "Child with a Disability." And so forth. It is really much better, and keeps everyone mindful that they are people, too...the disability shouldn't define the person inside.
