Spelling Bees O.O

Yeah, I like to spell, so sue me. I won my school's spelling bee, then I won the District Spelling Bee today, so yeah, I feel accomplished! =3

So, has anybody ever been in a spelling bee?

Yeah I have never been in a spelling bee for some reason.. maybe its because my teachers thought [well still do] im retarded.... oh well, im not that bad of a speller I guess, but I have never been in a spelling bee.

I've never heard of them, are they some sort of spelling competition?

Well I'm quite good at spelling, except a few words get me, like necessary. I don't have a clue if that's spelt right or not.

Yeah. Basically there is however many people are participating, and one by one they come up to the front and have to spell a word. If you misspell, you are eliminated and on down till one is left.

I've never actually participated in one, but I used to watch them when they showed the national spelling bees on ESPN, and then I watched Spellbound which was about that. The kids who go on the national competitions are insane. They're like 12 and younger, and they spell 15 letter words from languages like italian and greek. @_@

Enough of that. Seriously, I hate them. Haven't had one in a while, but I hate `em.

I rock at spelling. Spelling bees are great fun. The last spelling bee I was in, I was in the final three...but I spelled a word wrong. The word? Helicopter. I was just totally zoned from spelling words for the last half hour, and spelled it with an a or something. It was a very stupid mistake.

Yeah, I'm good at spelling, but I hate them with all my heart. So I always misspell the word so badly. It's fun.

I luv spelling bee's. Last one I was in, I won! I had to spell encyclopedia for the last word! I was the only one who got it!

^Funny^ Anyway, I never really cared about spelling, although I try to use proper spelling. I do get picky when people around me mispronounce words, though. ("Gigabyte"comes to mind)EDIT: I am also irritated when people use words that don't mean anything like how they're using them ("Irony" comes to mind.) I don't correct people, but I do often get corrected. Incorrectly I might add.

They don't seem to do spelling bee's around here after you graduate primary school. Middle school has the Geography bee, and then that's it. I haven't been in anything else, nor heard of any since I came to highschool.

I used to be in the spelling bee's almost every year when I was in primary school. I never got past the school level, but my best friend at the time won second in state one year and first the next.

Meh, I might not have been the best speller back then, but I won highest score for the Math Olympiads both years, so I'm proud of myself for having accomplished something noteworthy.

i almost got into the school one. :/ I was the last one up except for one person....the question was school.....i...spelled it....shcool ....XD I WAS SO FREAKIN CLOSE. now teh speling of mnie is horoble! I still like to spell though. we odnt have them anymore though

That is my one downfall...my english teacher said I can write really really well....its just I misspell about every word. I have never been in a spell bee and never will be. Sometimes I just blank out and cant remember how to spell the easiest words..like "use" or "of" or "easy"-and so many others. I will spell "of" ov. I will spell "use" yous. I will spell "easy" aesy. I dont have dislexia(spelling?) I am just a bad speller.

Yeah, I've been in a spelling bee. That's actually one of my biggest strengths. I participated in my elementary school's spelling bee years ago and got 2nd place for misspelling instrument as "instrament" :/ oh well...
