Snow Days

Yep, we had one today and I was so happy. I already had a 1 hour delay on Monday, was sick yesterday so I got the day off, and now we have a snow day! This is so great! And I only have to make up one day of work. I got to have my cake and eat it too.

Basically the whole idea of this thread is: What do you think of snow days? Any landmark snow days you had? Or maybe a recent one?

So yeah.

I really hate snZip Zap Rox My Socks! (snow) days.

Why? Because here in NC, they close the colleges and schools down, and I don't feel like having makeup days. We mostly get ice storms, and so far, a storm hasn't come yet.

Thats odd...we got a foot of snow today o_O. Well i hope you enjoy yours. I'm not in school yet. ^)^. But...hmmm...i cant really remember a good snow day here...since school would be in session here if the world was ending and elephants were stomping all of houses etc. I have had one snow day though. It was in georgia and we got an inch of snow (cool huh XD) and we got out because we didnt have the proper tools to do anthing with it. SO my brother and i rode a sled down this hill infront of our house and ran into our fence. I flew out...landing head first in snow. It was cold back then but i go out in a t-shirt in cold weather all the time now. I had to sit inside shivvering sipping hot cocoa for the rest of the day.....although i didnt fight it XD

Yeah, but then again, you make them up at the end of the year meaning that you basically have fun. I have awesome activities and stuff to do at my school by or near the end of the year.

Today is my 3rd day that my school's been cancelled this week. I live in a small town (around 25k pop.) and a few weeks ago a kid died on his way to school when his car spun out off control on some ice (wear seatbelts, everyone!), so the school district's afraid to have school if the roads are even slightly icey.

I had a snow day today. It started out as a two hour delay, then at the last minute turned into a cancellation. It was awesome.

I woke up at 5:30am, went on the tv to officialy confirm my prediction and went to bed, with my eyes half closed all at the same time.

Currently, it's snowing right now. Happy about that, because snow is cool.

Yeah, it's really coming down over here. It's been snowing all day.

I'm jealous of you spoiled Americans..

We wont get school of if theres a storm and the snow is 1metre deep.
Besides, everyone has a set of winter-tires in the garage.

Well, I don't have snow days but we do have hurricane days. The only bad thing about that is that we have to make up 12 days of school from the past 4 hurricanes,and I did not have power for a week so all the food in our refrigeorator got messed up and a tree fell down almost on our car. Although I have never seen snow and never been any where colder than 32 degrees. It is about 85 degrees now. I would like to see snow it looks awsome.

I live in Sweden.
I have plentyfull of snow in teh winter and plentyfull of warmth in the summer. Yay!

Its been crap so far this year for snow here in north east England, we had a bit of snow around november and a bit in december...but not that much. Its also been warm for this time of year, its around 6C in the day times o.o and about -2 at night....warm.
So, dissapointing here in north east England, but meh Febuary is when we get the most snow and it gets alot colder around then than it is now.

Snow's not all that great. Your hands get cold when you touch it unless you have gloves, and your socks/pantlegs get wet when you walk in it unless you have boots. I probably wouldn't care if I hadn't seen snow before. It beats the heck out of having hurricanes, though.

I find it amusing when you all talk about snow days, because we usually get around 1,5 - 2,0 meters with snow an average winter, though that has declined a bit the most recent years however.

Back in '97 I think, was our record winter with almost 3 meters of snow. So I guess you could say, snow days aren't really special for me

Dude, that is crazy. I think the most I have ever experienced was like 2-3feet and I had to shovel my 70 foot long driveway.
