Thanks ZU

Today is my birthday and as I was laying down considering what has happened to me this year. Reliving my good and my bad times through this year has shown me something that I never thought about.

My life was changed even more dramatically by ZU than I thought ever possible. I thought about the crappy school trip I went on at the beginning of September. On that trip I met my only friends that haven’t turned on me yet, they are goth (even though they don’t like to think of themselves as it). I got back and I hadn't noticed something.

The influence of my friends had turned me into a goth. I would get into fights with my parents constantly and I was under punishment most of the time, but then almost a month after my trip on one of the rare occasions where I wasn't grounded I googled for Zelda trying to find some nice pictures and the search came up with this website. I looked around here for about thirty minutes and then registered under the name of BongoBongo.

I was the perfect example of a newb here. I had questions for everyone and I wanted to become a mod right away. I asked Lioness tons of things and she influenced me more than she knows and I became better at controlling myself. All the while I knew I was doing something wrong. I knew that I wasn’t allowed to go on to forums and I refused to listen. I am typing this under cover of darkness right now actually, but the good news is that my dad is considering letting me join forums that I tell him about. I immediately said ZU when he asked which ones.

Anyway back to the story, I had tried to make my own sig but had failed miserably that’s when I asked Necco to make me one. He did it and it looked better than I had ever dreamed, I then asked Necco if we could be friends.

I had taken to writing last year and was going to post a fic but it never really took off, but before I even wrote it Rena was there saying she couldn’t wait to read it, I asked her if we could be friends.

I believe it was before that when I went to the adoption center and was adopted by Kittie Kara, she influences me every day still. Some time in November I asked Lioness to change my name to Alchemist, she gave me the proper connections to do so. I have been known that ever since.

In the same month I paid my first visit to #zelda and met Ascius, Mess, Lozzie, and Sadida. They all encourage me when I need it. So I have lived my time out here at ZU, I want to thank you all for stopping my goth ways before it was too late for me I haven’t had a serious fight with my parents for about two months.

I have discussed what happened to me when I was nine and my friends on #zelda have helped me overcome it. I would especially like to thank Mess who gave me the quote in my sig (the first line). Everyone here has helped me in ways they didnt know about and I have grown in maturity because of it. Thank you to everyone here at ZU. Indeed thank you.

Might want to seperate that out into more paragraphs. Just because it's easier to read that way.

Forums do that to people, eh? I've had an experience simillar to this... and I am sure most people have. The internet is beautiful! ZU is beautiful! The dancers are beautiful! The music is beautiful!

Obviously I'm still very much a newd on here, and havn't spent enough time here to really get an understanding for what you're talking about, but I think its wonderful that forums can have such a positive influence on people. Its charming that something as abstract as a forum has blossomed into a window for you to express yourself in, and by the sounds of it, better yourself. Good for you!

I'm glad that we were here to help out in more ways than one. It's truly amazing what influence a few "faceless" beings on a nice forum like this can do to one's life. I'm really happy that things are going better for you, and remember we will always be here for you...

Anyways, Alchemist, I'm glad that ZU could help you out. Makes me proud to think about that something I was part in creating, actually helps people. And to be honest, I never even knew you were a "newbie" when I saw you around the chat, and the forums. That must mean you're doing something right now

oh by the way today my dad officially said I was allowed on ZU and Necco's website MS forums.

yea there is always something about Zelda forums.... so friendly...helpful...and even loving :p its the way forums are meant to be

But you are the first I have seen write out such a thank you. And you don't have to thank us... that is why the members of ZU are here. That is why it is a community forums. If we weren't always here to help and make everyone happy, this wouldn't be a community forum, would it? It would be like... the separated feuding families forum! Hehehe...

It makes me filled with joy that you found aid in the members of this community helping you. I remember in a leaving thread I once made, I was so thankful for everyone, and to everyone. Why? THis place was the only place that could keep me at it for several months. Before I left, I said, "Thank you, everyone, for making Zelda Universe the best community, ever." And I stand firmly by that.

This IS the best online community I have ever seen. It is filled with mature minds with tons of things to say, tons of personalities, and tons of people who are willing to accept people for who they are and what they do, and bashing is rarely done out of hate, but more like a friendly punch. Thank you ZU, for that.

that's not the case for everyone.

I agree with Alchemist. ZU has given me people to actually talk to, and whatnot, as well as (this sounds sort of weird) increase my confidence to tell people that I'm gay. Interesting, really, that the internet, which is not a terribly personal enviroment, can help a person so much.

And Alchy, I don't know you too well, but I'm happy to know the community has bettered (is that a word?) your life.

Nice Alchemist :0) ZU sure does affect us. As with all things, what we get out of her is up to us, but I admit that some of the members here make it hard to get anything but good :0) We're a rather strange, unique bunch. I have my own ... peculiarities >.> as does everyone else. I don't know about other online "communities," but ZU puts the Commun into Communism..er..no, wait..that's not right (()_());

heh, what I mean to say is, ZU's a great place :0) I'm glad that it has helped your family life, and I wish I could claim that I helped you even in a small way, although I don't think I can..
