Flags Thread

This is going to be the thread where we show our favorite flags of any nation, flags that really stand out to us. Of course, you can show the flag of the nation you were born in as one of your favorites, flags of counties, provinces, and states; and flags of countries that are no longer around (such as imperial Japan or the Confederate States of America).

Speaking of which, I really like the flag for imperial Japan.



It's a simple flag, but there's just something about it that I like.



I like the Seychelles flag. It's very vibrant and colorful.

The flag of Sardinia. Apparently they changed the flag to a less morbid one that also makes no sense at all. It represents four Moorish generals about to be executed, the new one shows four Moors with head bands instead.

I like really unique flags

Take the Virgin Islands for example.

I almost posted the same as it is, by all means, an attractive flag. But it's not hardcore like Sardinia.

My state flag has a ♥♥♥♥ing bear on it if that counts.

Sometimes, the Swedish flag makes me cry a little.

Doesn't Japan's flag just evoke the most vivid images of menstruation? Waking up and congratulations! You just started your period.



I always liked how the Philippines' flag could be flown in different ways: flying it with the blue field on top meant the country was in peacetime, and with the red on top meant the country was at war.

In which red stands for power and love, white for purity and green for hope.

In other words, we like powerful love (BDSM, probably) with pure women, hoping that they won't become pregnant.





I am particularly fond of the Bosnian flag, I think its design is pretty great:



I just like this blue/yellow clash with the unique pattern, I guess.



I like flags that have unique symbols (PLANTS/ANIMALS <3) to them, like the maple leaf in the Canadian one, or the eagle in the Prussian one.

I'm going to insert a picture of the latter as it hasn't been mentioned in the thread earlier. :'>




No offense to the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Russia, Serbia and a bunch of other Slavic states, but I find their blue/white/red tricolour combination utterly confusing, as they only differ in the order of colours. Tee hee.

There's something about the USSR flag that I really like, and I have no idea what it is. In contrast, I really hate the Chinese flag, which almost has the same design.

Japan evidently make the best flags. Most flags are incredibly garish, but the Japanese have style. If most of these weren't made in times where gay people were oppressed so much then we'd have some fabulous flags to look at today.
