(Unless your one certain N00B in particular who continues, to this day, to make thread after thread... I think we all know who I'm speaking of here).
Heh, is this supposed to be me?

I'm only joking, I notice that nebs make many threads up. When I was a n00b, I made up stupid threads that did get locked. I could go on, but we had a discussion similar to this in #zelda.

Threads get locked quite quickly around these parts compared to numerous other threads I go to. I notice that it happens a lot on Zelda related sites, so there could be a connection. That being said, many kids who join forums are new to it, and may not see or read the rules. I joined my first forum when I was 21 and I didn't even know how to register at the time.

Patience is really the key. New members are the lifeblood of internet forums, and without them eventually a forum dies. You have to make sure they understand the rules in a manner that doesn't turn them off from the community. We have our fair share of jerk faces around here, but the nice peeps heavily outnumber the brash.
There are indeed many young people joining, I'd be one of them, I was just about to turn 13 when I joined, but I've had forum experience before. You can bet that a lot are new to zelda, or to the internet. Using their da blah ph34r blah blah type to try and fit in... You'll noticed that the older new members know what they're doing and are mature enough to realise it's always a good idea to read the rules.

What i think about that is that they want to increase their posts. They might also do it to get into a clan (need 100 posts). I personally know this because i did it in the first month.:embrsd: But I actually find that I get more posts without starting threads than I do if I start one.

Re: *** kissing newbies

Some people (*cough* Are there any gamers here that have hunger?) constantly make threads that have no point. Ugh I hate pointless threads. There should be some weekly quota of like 1 thread a week... or every 2 weeks.

Re: *** kissing newbies

You know what else I've noticed? People love to gripe about newbies. Remember that newbies are good things. They allow the community to continue, and grow.

This session of 'lets hate the newbies' is now closing. Please watch your step on the way out.
