Obviously he's taking credit for the England being the starting culture of America. Problem is Americans are barely ethnic Anglish.
Germans, Italians, Scotts-Irish*, Scandinavians and Mexicans are all larger parts of the American gene make-up than the English are. The English are the culture America most closely resembles, but we have little British DNA.
Case in point, I even have an English last name, but no actual heritage from England except that my maternal-grandpa lived there between hailing from Scotland and moving to America. My other grandfather was adopted into the name but he was a Germanic Jew from Cuba.
