Hello, everyone. It has been over two years since I last made a Reflecting on the Past thread back in early 2010. I thought now that I would revive the idea and begin anew. This thread is designed for reflecting purposes and to see how much each member has changed over time on Zelda Universe.

My very first signature was identical to this one, except it was spelled as "Drk Link" instead of "Dark Link".

First Username

Originally, I was "Drk Link". I figured, hey, Zelda fan site, so I should choose a Zelda username. At the time, Dark Link was already taken, so I simply took out the "a". Thus, "'Drk' Link". Eventually, I was able to change my name to "Dark Link", though. This is where I consider my glory days first started. It wasn't until a little bit after I became a mod that I decided to change my name to the current one I have now -- "Xeno". A name more befitting, methinks. Certainly a lot more original.

That would be the thread I originally made in the New Members board introducing myself.

First Custom Rank

I honestly cannot remember. Something witty, I'm sure.

First Clan

The Din Clan. I believe it was Tiroth who sent me the test. I was placed in Din. Not much else to it.

Modding Date/Reaction

It was back in November 8, 2008. I was made a mod of General Gaming and the Spinoffs and Cameos boards. My reaction was something along the lines of "about time".

Haha, actually, I really can't quite remember. I suppose I had wondered what exactly promoted them to make a mod at the time as opposed to in the past. At any rate, I'm sure it's something Cody doesn't regret doing (at least for now). =P

My RP character for the BA. Had her made within two days of joining. I actually joined ZU because I was so thoroughly impressed with the RPing aspect of it. Just like the old days.

The day you first got promoted to be a mod - the date and what your reactions were:

March 14th, 2009. It was the same day that I started working at my current job. I remember my heart jumping, and grinning, and being super giddy, cause I honestly wasn't expecting it at all!

What were you doing that day you registered to ZU?

I was at school. Well, not school, but the dorm room. I was on my dorm father's computer, and I found this place by clicking on the link of a member who was part of my own forum (which is now dead, sadface).

I don't remember, and thanks to a hacking that happened way back when there's no way to tell. I think it may have been in a discussion thread about a Behind the Rupees article, since I am pretty sure I signed up with the purpose of responding to one of those articles.

I didn't have a signature for the longest time, because I didn't feel like asking for anyone to make one (indeed, I've only ever made one request from any graphics type person, and it wasn't for a sig), and didn't know how to make one myself (and lacked the necessary ability and software, really). Eventually I got some basic photo editing software, and started tooling around with making my own sigs. They were all pretty terrible. This was my first one:



I was really into pirates. Still am, but in a much more...educated way? I've studied and written about them in an academic setting, so I don't really have the same desire to display my love for them as a subject in the same way.

What was your first username if you changed it or not - explain why you picked it or what does it mean:

I never share my original username. I like to keep that a mystery. But I picked it because it was the username I used for pretty much everything else. I didn't really make any sort of impact on the forums until I had changed it for Galedeep, then I changed that to my real name when I started feeling weird being addressed by anything but that.

Your first thread - what was it about:

Again, it was likely lost in the hack, but I think it may have been a thread questioning said hack, wondering what had happened and what the fallout was and such. It was probably pretty dumb.

I didn't really make threads very often, I think before I became a mod I made less than five. I still prefer not to.

Your first custom ranking when you first got to edit yourself:

This I don't remember at all. I remember that I used to change my CR, sig and avy every 100 posts (which took a couple months most of the time, I was very much a lurker), so I don't remember what my first one was. I've kept all my old sigs, and some of my old avatars, but I don't really remember any of the CRs I used before this one. Probably because it has been years since I changed it.

Your first (original) clan - what was your first clan if you've ever changed it:

I've never been in a clan. When I first joined up I wasn't active enough to consider joining one, and by the time I was active enough I didn't feel like being an established member crashing a party. Though I have sometimes wondered what clan I would have been placed in.

Your first friend you made:

First member I had any regular interaction with on the forums as well as outside the forums was a guy who went by the username Bengan. He PMed me about a Gambit avatar I had, and from there we kind of started talking about the X-Men and comic books and such. I actually pretty much have him to thank for getting me back into comics. We used to talk over msn and through PM, but he eventually went inactive and it's been years since we last spoke.

I don't know if I would refer to him as a "friend," but he certainly was the first person I communicated with on a closer level than just regular posting.

The day you first got promoted to be a mod - the date and what your reactions were:

Digging through PMs, looks like Sturs invited me around October 10, 2007. The reaction I sent him seemed grateful and humbled. I'd say my own reaction was that, mixed with surprise because I didn't really feel like I was an active or well-known enough member to become a mod. I was also a little excited.

It was seven years ago, I have no recollection at all.

What was the date you got promoted as a moderator—what were your initial reactions?
I was made a mod for the Graphic Design early last year I think? Though without the banner because I didn't want to be publicly recognised as a mod. I just wanted to do the work. And then I was forced to wear the banner. So uh yeah unwilling mod. And then I was made GCC mod a few months later, not sure of exact date. Without my permission. So my reactions to both where basically ">____>"

As for admin, first thing I did was... uh, I can't remember, but I know Cody PM'd me "lol admin y/n?" and I sent back a picture of a horse, and then I was admin'd and then I went to wash my hair.

The progress here is amazing.

What was your first mod action?
As GD mod, I started up Sig of the Week again.
As GCC mod, I closed a thread.
Admin: I... don't remember, but what I do know is my best friend/newest Super Mod Avalanchemike banned me and himself.

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join? Through a fanfiction. >__> It was 16th February 2009.

- I haven't changed my username (and I wouldn't because it's confusing and I'm happy with my first choice). I named myself after a song by Morrissey and I think the names fits me for some reason.

- DIN4LYFE. It's the only place for me.

- I think it might have been Gamzee. Too lazy to check.

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join?

- I joined in January because I was bored and I wanted something to eat my time up.

- To be honest, I feel that when I joined I was the 'visceral ♥♥♥♥ punt' that somebody once told me I was, but that's dulled now. So I might have devolved from mega♥♥♥♥♥ to flamboyant fauxmosexual. I've been declawed, darlings. Damn.

MOD STUFF

What was the date you got promoted as a moderator—what were your initial reactions? - December 13th, 2011. I've sort of always had a small desire to be a moderator ever since I joined, but I didn't think I would have made a good one until that day. My first reaction was, "is this real?" I'd been on the forum for five and a half years at that point and I didn't really see myself as a candidate for being a moderator. I felt kind of honored, and at the same time felt like I should look over myself and make sure I presented myself in a better fashion than I had previously. For the longest time I was just this huge troll and caused trouble, so I knew I'd have to cut that out.

What was your first mod action? - I gave infractions to like 30 people for not having dreads. I was quickly told to cut that ♥♥♥♥ out.

My first real mod action was editing the VCR user manual, or changing the name of the Green Room.

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join? I joined June 10th, 2006. I lurked the main site for at least half a year, using it for guides and such. Eventually I wandered into the forums and I've stayed ever since, save for the occasional break. I just found it by googling Zelda and such.

Is there any qualities about yourself (online persona or not) that have changed, evolved, or developed over your time at Zelda Universe?
- Well, I've been on ZU since three days before my thirteenth birthday. I think just about everything about me from now to then is pretty ♥♥♥♥ing different.

At the time I joined this site I had just started the bassoon, and I guess for some reason I thought that saxophone would be my main. Saxophone was the only instrument I had really loved before the point I joined this forum. I had not had my first lesson on the bassoon quite yet (I think it was around 4 or 5 days after I joined here.), so I didn't quite understand it yet.

Everybody thought my username was "Sex4Life". LOL. Sax, as in saxophone people.

I don't remember... But god 2006 was such a great year. I didn't appreciate it at the time, of course. But truly one of the best years of my life, followed by 2007 a possibly even better year. I miss the "good ol' days". Trust me in my case I don't think that just because it's in the past, and 'the past is always better'. Things have really gone downhill since that point. =(

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join?
I don't know... A search engine? It's been many years since I first found this site, I'm sure. I joined on December 16, 2006. Which I believe (on a completely unrelated note) was the day I had my first bassoon lesson. I don't know for sure, though. On a more related note it was either right before/after or right when I got Twilight Princess.

Is there any qualities about yourself (online persona or not) that have changed, evolved, or developed over your time at Zelda Universe?
I feel like I've changed a whole bunch, but at the same time I haven't changed at all.

But I know I have changed, for I am practically living an entirely different life than I was before.

My first avatar was a logo of the band, Muse. I could not really think of anything interesting to put at the time, so I just did that. Had it for 7 or 8 months.

Something Zelda-related. Asking about my favorite Ocarina of Time Temple. I said Great Deku Tree out of complete nostalgia.

It was an inside joke between quite of a few of my friends from school who started the joke in early 2008. A lot of people asked if it was from the show, Jersey Shore. (Not on this site) I denied claims, considering I have been saying this before the show had premiered.

What was your first username (if you changed it)? Explain why you chose it or what it means.

My first username on this site was OneHungryHippo. The first username I remember was in the 4Kids TV forums, Naruto59788. Which I joined in late 2005, early 2006. The username, OneHungryHippo, just stuck with me. I came up with it when I wanted some ideas for different usernames in 2007, and OneHungryHippo was one of them. I didn't end up picking OneHungryHippo, but I later ended up choosing it for a few forums, and ZU was one of those forums.

What was your first thread—what was it about?

It was about my feelings toward the year 2004, and how important it was to me at the time. These days, I feel I gave it a bit too much credit, however I still found it to be an enjoyable year.

What was your first custom rank (if you have changed it) when you had gotten the ability to edit it yourself?

I have no idea. I am pretty sure I didn't know you could edit it 'til later.

What was your first clan (if you have changed it)?

I took the clan test from Brokenjoker, and I never got feedback. So I waited a month, then asked Xeno if I could retake it, and I got into Farore.

What was your first friend you made?

Tablesixteen. I didn't really chat with said person, as she only made 9 posts, and hasn't been online since April 28th, 2011.

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join?

I was bitter and sorrowful after getting banned from another forum because I was twelve years old, and you had to be thirteen or older to join. So, I was on Google, and I found these forums in February 2010, and I decided to join. I actually did join this site in 2005 or 2006, however I don't believe I ever posted, and I have no idea what my username was.

Is there any qualities about yourself (online persona or not) that have changed, evolved, or developed over your time at Zelda Universe?

Although sometimes people will point out lame things about people, I have to say, not much has really changed. Less Zelda talk and less caps lock. That's pretty much the only difference.

Chii from Chobits is my favorite anime character. She's been my avatar/sig for awhile now, even before I joined ZU.

I think it was my introduction topic. That or possibly SD because the whole Casey Anthony trial was going on when I joined and I remember writing some posts in that discussion.

Well, I initially registered as "Reicheru-chan" because my real name is Rachel and that's how you'd say it in Japanese. I was always "Willow" at all the forums I've ever joined, but someone had already taken the name. Me being the creature of habit I am, I really didn't like the idea of using a different username but I figured what could I do.

But then I was like, "Oh, I can just add '-chan' to end of Willow and my problem is solved, and I can still be Willow! :D" I really prefer just Willow alone, but it's better than it being completely different. I've been considering recently seeing if the person who has Willow alone has been active and making it so that I can have the name without the -chan if they show to be inactive, but I don't know. Still undecided about it.

My introduction thread. I haven't really created many threads other than that. XD

Nayru, same clan I'm in now. Though I do abuse my mod powers from time to time and post in the other clans. :3

Hmm, I believe it was Dr. You or Sólsetur (if my memory serves me right, I started writing quite a bit with them both via VMs the first day or so I joined, so I think they are tied for the first friend I made here ^__^ ).

What was the date you got promoted as a moderator—what were your initial reactions?
I don't remember the exact date, it was maybe a few weeks after I joined here. Lysia's The Sacred Realm community combined here with ZU, so the staff from her forums were offered to continue their jobs here. I was co-administrator there, so I started off as a Super Mod here at ZU and then a couple of months later I became admin again.

What was your first mod action?
I think I told someone to stop spamming in a thread (I don't even remember who, I just remember they didn't take me seriously because I was new on staff and probably because I just came out of nowhere as this stranger who was suddenly a new super mod XD )

How did you come across Zelda Universe, and on what day did you decide to join?
Like I mentioned previously, I found out about ZU through Lysia and her decision to combine her efforts with ZU. I don't remember the exact date, but it was sometime in late June 2011.

Is there any qualities about yourself (online persona or not) that have changed, evolved, or developed over your time at Zelda Universe?
Oh yeah, I think having the opportunity to work at ZU has definitely helped to change me for the positive. I think I've become more patient and open-minded with making decisions as a result of being a part of the staff and a member of the community. Doing the job has helped me to realize that rules aren't always a concrete thing and that certain situations must be handled on a case-by-case basis. And considering that I am studying to become a pharmacist, I think this is an important thing to develop in oneself; there are sometimes situations in the pharmacy environment that require professional judgement where going by rules alone isn't enough to provide the best possible care to a patient.

My first username? I think it was Genshai. I just used another random name that I came up with really. It doesn't have a meaning, nor do any of my other usernames. Aside from Keith of course.

It was probably some egotistical title regarding my role as "The Destroyer" or some other silly thing. Now I just use quotes from Twitter people I follow, or the occasional meaningful comment from a friend

My first clan was Nayru. I changed to Din because of a disagreement I had with one or two people there, but honestly I kinda miss that place. While Din is my family now, I'll still treasure Nayru forever <3

I remember answering the clan test specifically to get in Nayru because it was the "Wisdom" clan and I figured Farore would all be popular kids who wouldn't like me and Din would be stupid people who were strong. I was such a cute kid xD

What was your first friend you made?

I'm not entirely sure how to answer this. I think one of my first friends was uh... ♥♥♥♥ I dunno. Lurrrre! maybe? he was pretty nice, but we didn't speak as much as we should have. I'm sure it was someone in the graphical/spriting community since that was mostly where I resided when I first joined.

However, since my rejoining back in last Spring? Probably Nate, otherwise known on the forum as kodachrome. On the ZU Minecraft server he buried me in a prison of ice and as I dug my way our I fell through a hole in the ground and was KIA.
