Should Animals Be Doing More for Animal Rights?

Now, we all know PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is the spearhead group in the Animal Rights ring, but shouldn't the P in PETA have a little more A in it? If Animals want their rights to be taken seriously, I see no reason why they can't just get involved themselves. There've been countless stories of animal marches gone awry, and that's really sad, to me at least. As a long time dog owner, I've been very adamant in teaching my little Fido about the history of the Canine species, and why they need to take control of their future, but he just doesn't seem to care whatsoever. Isn't it time that mindset is altered?

Now, I'm not saying every single species of Animal needs their own Constitution. Some animals, like the Great White Shark, Anaconda and Water Buffalo cannot be trusted with such things, but why can't the domesticated become the sophisticated? As a dominate species, I say that humans need to band together with our furry friends, and help push them to a new age of animalism.

Sure, they don't need their own country yet, but how far off is the first Animal Supreme Court?

Re: Should Animals Be Doing More for Animal Rights?

Like which? Pakistan? Iraq? Im not really sure that would be a suitable enviornment for an animal nation, especially in such turbulent times. Maybe fifty years from now, when the political environment calms down, but even then, is that a safe place for such a fledgling country?

I think its best to think, and start small. They are not ready to have their own nation (nor do we know that they WANT that). They need to have voting rules and their own school systems before anything else. After the President of the United States; there needs to be a First Dog. Maybe he'll be nothing but a figure head at first, but the animals need something/one/dog to rally behind.

Damn the humans who originally put animals in a subserviant position, instead of living with them as equals. There is so much to learn from the animals around us, so much that if we don't start tapping that knowledge; we are the ones who will be damned.

Damned to an existence of emptiness.

I absolutely support an animal country. I think monarchy is what fits the best for them, perhaps constitutional monarchy; and I suppose the primogeniture would be nice as well.
