There's way too much negativity in this world. And that ain't good. Sure, bad stuff happens on our planet, like wars, disasters and famine. But why should we always focus on the negative stuff all the time? It can and will drag your mood down. We need more reasons to smile, to laugh, to sing, to cheer, to be happy.
I propose that we use this thread to talk about things in this world which we truly find awesome. Things that make us happy to be alive. Things that make us grateful for the blessing of being able to live on this beautiful blue marble we call Earth.
(Note: This thread is intended to be different from the "Te Gusta?" thread. It's not to list random things we like, but to share and discuss things we love about our planet, and users are encouraged to be more thoughtful about their answers.)

Water.
C'mon, water is just plain awesome! It's cool, refreshing, and symbolic of washing away the filth and starting anew. For you religious people out there, you'll probably know that as baptism. For everyone, water is essential to keep us hydrated. Did you know that dehydration can lead to increases of temper and anxiety? Drink lots and lots of water! And for those of you who like to drink alcoholic beverages, remember that these beverages dehydrate you, so be sure to drink more water to balance things out!
Swimming.
Aren't you glad we don't live on Mars? From what I can tell, it's a very dry planet. If there are Martians out there, I bet you they're jealous of our swimming pools! Our planet is what, eighty percent water? Thank god for that! Plenty of places where we can swim! It's a great way to cool off during the summer, and is also great exercise!
Mountains.
Don't you just love mountains? Giant snow-capped rocks that tower over us in all their glory. I remember once going to a town in Colorado which was right in the heart of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Everywhere I looked, for as far as the eye could see, were all these rock giants reaching towards the heavens. It remains one of my most cherished memories to this day. All those snow-capped mountains in every which direction, making you feel like a little ant being dwarfed by their magnificence. God, I love this planet!
Beaches.
There are many awesome things to say about beaches. The sand between your toes, the calming sound of the waves coming in and out, the seagulls, the seals and walruses chilling on the rocks. And then there's looking out and seeing a gigantic ocean which can be very humbling at times. When we're so used to seeing the four walls of our homes, looking out to the ocean reminds you just how big our world is. Then there's collecting shells. One of my favorite things to do at the beach is just stand there at the very edge and have the waves take the sand out from underneath me so I sink a little bit each time the waves go in and out.
I'll post some more later. What about our planet do you think is just awesome?
PEOPLE ARE AWESOME.
Do you know how much ♥♥♥♥ the human race has accomplished in the few thousand years we've been here? What started as some creatures on a rock floating through space ended up as a really advanced and intelligent civilization that has even left the planet. We as humans have done so many crazy and amazing things that weren't even imaginable years ago. With technology advancing every day, who knows what people could accomplish years from now?
I love a beautiful scenery, nice mountains, green grass, clear lakes, and I just love climbing!
outdoors is so nice, I really like being in nice places and taking photos of it, then just climbing trees, rocks or mountains, I am terribly scared of heights but I climb high anyway cause I love the satisfaction of getting up there and seeing the horizon.
Especially at this time of year, the country I live in is just stunningly beautiful. I am also incredibly lucky to live near this place.
I am so glad of this. If there are alien races from some rocky planet out there watching us, I bet they will be very jealous of the great scenery we have here.
As Blizz mentioned in the OP, yes, mountains are probably one of my favourite things on this planet. Their magnificence, the scent of fresh air and pines, the view from a mountain is something I really love and think that it's breathtaking. This is why Switzerland really captured my heart when I was there.
Aside from that...
Seas
Or oceans. Or something. Living in a landlocked country, I saw and experienced the sea only twice in my life. I remember that I was absolutely in love with it and that it took me like a day to get used to the salt. xP Seas are absolutely beautiful and I wish I could see them more.
Fruit
Come on, aren't fruit awesome?!! It consist of vitamins and stuff that's good for you. Plus they are refreshing and taste awesome! I honestly have never met someone that says they don't like ALL fruits. There's gotta be at least one you like. Vegetables
Now vegetables are different, they still are very good for you, but not everybody likes certain vegetables. Which understandable; I would most definitely pick fruit over vegetables if I were given a choice. But still vegetables are awesome.
The world in general is a pretty great place. I like that it can sustain human life fairly well.
While I do agree that life is pretty awesome, there are plenty of productive reasons to focus on the negatives, though. If we only think about sunshine and happiness, then we won't make progress getting rid of the bad things.
It proliferates despite the plethora of hardships. There's so much life on Earth that we take some of it for granted! It's beautiful! I mean, a perfect correlation of quadrillions of primal functions -- and it even looks good. Who on this planet could hate it?!
I have been in the city for most of my life and only get to see only a few stars when I feel like going out at night, but recently, I went on a camping trip and the sky was dotted with magnificent stars. Just seeing them high above me causes a swell of wonder and awe to just, gah just so awesome. I have never seen the little dipper/ursa minor with my own eyes before Wednesday night. The sky in general is just amazing....
I think that the world is fine, but look at people. We are the most shameful group of things to ever exist. We have brought eternal shame to all life on earth. We have become the "alphamales" but we hurt all other things on earth to get there. The earth is like a mockingbird, and with our vast "intelligence", we have corrupted all life on earth. Nothing is peaceful anymore. I don't think the earth is nearly as great as it would be without our idiotic race destroying what exists to facilitate life.
The intricacies of the human body have always intrested me, the speed at which everything occurs, how one seemingly small problem can lead to a big one.
While I do agree that life is pretty awesome, there are plenty of productive reasons to focus on the negatives, though.
So long as you don't get lost in the negativity, because it's addictive and there will always be problems in the world. Fix one problem and several more take its place. So if you're only focusing on the negative things, no matter how you try to rationalize it, you are destined for unhappiness.
Which is why it's important that we stop and smell the roses every once in a while. Take a step back and magnify the positives over the negatives. It is uplifting and empowering. And I'm sure you'd find that it's much easier to overcome the negatives when you have regular healthy doses of positive.
