[Negative Thread] Things you're sick of

Internet slang that can be typed out properly with JUST AS MUCH EFFORT. For example, kewl rather than cool. That kind of thing. You can easily type it out with just as much effort, if not less in some cases (like hai rather than hi), so WHY do people distort the words? To look cool? Because it's in those stupid meme picture things? It makes no sense to me. My least favorite is 'moar' rather than more. Ugh. It's just depressing, really.

I also despise text speak outside of texts. I don't understand why it's used on the internet. It's not like typing out the actual word will take that much more effort. Do I expect proper grammar? No. That being said, it won't kill anyone to follow the basic rules of the English language, especially when they can type it quickly and effortlessly.

Spelling things phonetically for fun is a very old practice (Heck, we get "OK" from "Oll Korrekt") and not all that weird.


Mine has to be "literally" when you mean "figuratively" and the fact that no one seems to know what "irony" is anymore. I don't mind most language missteps, we all make mistakes and most of the rules are arbitrary and pointless. However, with "literally" we don't have a replacement word. Once it has finished its metamorphosis we'll have no word that means what it used to. Irony is in a similar situation, only it's also got lots of people using the word who haven't a clue what it means.

There's playing on words to make a point/be witty and making puns ('words' like 'kewl' fall under neither category), and then there's just distorting words because it's 'cool'. And even if it was once funny, it's long since passed that point.

A lot of things I get annoyed hearing about have to do with dance (shockingly!).

I'm sick of people telling me that I don't have the right to complain about being sore because "dance isn't a real sport" or "dance isn't hard, you just move to music".

Um.

And my personal favorite "you don't get any real injuries from dance".

Just... LOLNO. Tell that to my completely messed up left knee, back spasms, and ankles that have been sprained countless times due to being en pointe.

I hate being told that my passion isn't real and that it's something everyone can be an expert at the first time they try it.

I'm going to unfollow them. Seriously, tumblr girls. Seriously. I know that none of you have ever had a boyfriend in your life, but obsessing over an actor, who frankly isn't even attractive. Isn't going to solve anything. And if this whole thing started because you hope to appear that you're into the Avengers and attract males to you. You are dumb

Half of these girls probably don't even know that Loki was an actual god before he was a comic book character. They probably think the people that wrote the comic books came up with him.

And I'll tell you, when I started following these people, none of them were obsessed with the Avengers. I'm sick of hearing about the Avengers and I'm sick of seeing Tom Hiddleston's ugly face!

I've probably mentioned this already but hearing celebrity news ticks me off. I get even more sick of hearing about it when the news is about a famous couple and they've merged the actor's names into one new name to talk about them. Seriously, who came up with the fad to put two people's names together and then always use it as news?

For example, kewl rather than cool.

Well, you're lucky then. Stupid things like that tend to happen more on 'official' forums of games where there's usually a younger crowd than on other forums or on Skype chatrooms/those chatbox things of/on forums. However, it's not entirely fair to blame young people for it's prolonged usage as I know several adults who do it. One of the forums I'm on has a Skype room and on it there are multiple *adults* who spell like that on a daily basis.

The meme involving Nigel Thornberry's face photoshopped onto every Disney/Pixar major female character. Yes, it was funny at first, but after the tenth-thousanth time?? Please. Let. It. Die. The show isn't even on air anymore! The last episode aired waaay back in 2004! It's getting old!!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of hearing about Friday 13th.


I don't know why, but it pisses me off every time I hear "OMG UNLUX DA THURTEEnTH OF FRY-DEIghE"... Okay, maybe that's en exaggeration but you understand where I'm coming from, right?

For those of you that don't know, a "pet peeve" is a minor annoyance or inaccuracy that an idividual finds particularily annoying. In my case, it'd be ignorance, which is odd as I have this one friend I consider extremely ignorant, who I don't hang around with anymore.

How about you, what's your pet peeve?

- When someone's volume on the television is an odd number (except 5).
- All of my money needs to be in order in my wallet, and facing the same way. It annoys me when people don't do that.
- All my dvds/games cases aren't together or piled up in a specific way

I have to fix my pillows 24/7 because they seemed so crooked.
I know I have more but I can't think much today.

My pet peeve is when my teachers and classmates don't say my name correctly even after I've told them how it's supposed to be said...repeatedly. It doesn't irritate me at first, but when it continues on for over a year I get a bit ticked. It's not like my name is XPWFHNEOFHF...I'm not even Polish!
