Personally I like Captain America. He doesn't have all of these ego problems that the other heroes do.

That's part of why I prefer Marvel over DC; relatability. Marvel's heroes still retain their humanity when they gain their powers, and they have to deal with problems both as a hero and as a civilian. Tony Stark's alcoholism, Hank Pym's feelings of inadequacy (and feeling small and beating his wife and so on), Bruce Banner's rage (although that directly ties to his being the Hulk sooo), Peter Parker dealing with life as a young adult, stuff like that. Whereas DC tends to have stuff like The Flash who is the goddamn living embodiment of the speed force, Wonder Woman who's made of clay, Superman and the Martian Manhunter who are both aliens, stuff like that.

DC does their heroes in a very unique way. They're extremely powerful and fun as hell to watch, but it's a lot harder for the average person to relate to them when their problems are so different to our own. Hell, even the most famous human hero that DC offers, Batman, has absurdly nonrelatable problems. His major problems both inside the suit and out are mostly dealing with his complete inability to kill any human, a result of the trauma he received after watching his parents get gunned down. It's manifested itself in a way that almost makes him as insane as the folks he throws into Arkham. I really believe that if he were to ever kill one of his rogue gallery of his own free will, his mind would break. It's that ingrained into him. It's even caused him to be completely disattached from his Bruce Wayne persona. In his eyes, he is only Batman. There goes any chance of readers really "connecting" with ol' Brucey.

All in all I just think that the whole issue of heroes who retain their humanity makes for a much more interesting story and that's what I read comics/play games/watch movies for. To be interested in the story.

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE WHOLE THANOS VS DARKSEID CIRCLEJERK FIASCO

MAHVEL 4 LYFE

WHERE YO CURLEH MUSTACHE AT
I've read like 5 comic books in my life (so the only exposure I've had to superheroes is through films), but I find Batman to be a very relatable character in the current film-trilogy, just as much so as Peter Parker, Tony Stark, and so forth.

Bruce Wayne's struggle for purpose is very much reminiscent of my own--and many others I'm sure--in that he grows up knowing no true purpose. He leaves university with a singular goal; to kill Joe Chill, the man who murdered his mother and father. Eventually, he finds his purpose in the mountains of Bhutan with the League of Shadows, to protect the innocent and exact justice on those who commit evil.

The concept of conquering fear is also prevalent in Batman Begins. As a child, Bruce feared bats after an encounter with them in a well, and it is a swarm of the winged creatures that attack him when he confronts his fear with Ra's Al Ghul in the mountains.

Controling one's anger comes to the fore during Bruce Wayne's training among the League of Shadows and in his response to Joe Chill. Wayne learns his anger is a weakness his enemies can and will exploit, and that it will distract him from his purpose; justice. He is forced to overcome his desire to kill the Joker in The Dark Knight as well, following Rachel's death.

Rather than write a novel here, I'll just list the above and a few other themes I find very much relatable with Batman:

1. Discovering purpose
2. Conquering one's fear
3. Overcoming anger
4. Seeking justice above all else
5. Desire for revenge
6. Sacrificing love (Rachel) for duty
7. Sacrificing oneself for the greater good (Wayne takes the blame for Two-Faces' crimes)
8. Corruption - becoming as vile as the very enemy you fight (stooping to their level)

These are just a few I've thought up in the past 10 minutes, but they're all applicable in life. Even though I'm not fond of superheroes, I've loved Batman since I was a child, and that admiration has continued in large part, I believe, because even as a young adult, I can identify with him. His struggle is one we all know.

You can add people you know, you can connect it to your facebook, make calls to people who have skype as well, also video calls. and other stuff that's premium but you'd have to pay at that point.

You ignore it except for those rare occasions in which you actually talk to people through voice and/or video chat.

You make a good point, I'll give ya that. And yeah, movie Batman seems a lot more relatable than the one in the comics. Probably because movies are meant to appeal to a broader audience.

And I never meant to imply DC characters were completely unidentifiable, just that it's a lot harder to identify with them then Marvel's characters, who seems to have more human flaws. Naw mean?

Re: [GT2] Euro Crisis in Greece, God do we love PIIGS

WoOoOOo Comics all up in our GCC xDD!

To all DC/Marvel fans a genuine question; (perhaps because I didnt grow up on it) but .. do you ever get bored with all the superhero characters? Do you ever wish to see a comic that almost follows novel-type or epic stories instead? even slic of life ones
After a while, dOES it ever get dull?
And if not, why? What most do you enjoy about them?
And in what way can normal average joes like you and I relate to the unexplainable superpower part?

(sorry, the question gave birth to many questions :<<!!)

Re: [GT2] Euro Crisis in Greece, God do we love PIIGS

Superhero comics can get pretty stale if that's all you read. Gotta change that ❤❤❤❤ up with some stuff not related to capes and tights. Then there's stuff like Bones or Scott Pilgrim that pretty much anybody can pick up and enjoy.

Plus ❤❤❤❤ like Transmetropolitan, Judge Dredd, whatevs

Sandman's still my favorite graphic novel series and that's not a cape comic at all.

Plus there's like a trillion webcomics out there (those count they totally do) and the two I mainly read are Cucumber Quest and Gunnerkrigg Court. Neither one are about overly muscular people in skin tight clothes pummeling each other.

It all pretty much boils down to "if it's interesting, I'll read it". Don't really care if it's a traditional comic, webcomic, manga, book, graphic novel, whatever

Plus Marvel and DC aren't the only publishers of superhero comics. Dark Horse in particular puts out some great stuff
