Pretty much this, however I would like to expand upon that a bit by saying, I find getting a tattoo of say, your favorite game or movie or something to be incredibly stupid as it's near permanent and you're liable to lose interest in it.
I'm all for getting a tattoo of something that means something to you though, be it to represent yourself or culture.
Your heritage is always with you, and if you opt to get one that reflects a certain time in your life, it would always serve as a reminder.
As for Triforces and pop culture references, I don't think those should be a permanent fixture.
