Do You Read Locked Threads?

Well, do ya? Personally, if a thread is locked I like to go in and see why. Because I have nothing better to do. Yet another cool reason for having the Like Button is that I'm able to Like posts and therefore partly share my opinion even after the thread is locked.

So does curiosity get the best of you? Or do you avoid locked threads like the plague because you think they're probably a waste of your time (they were locked for a reason, you rationalize to yourself)?

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

Depends on the thread, really.

And it depends on weather I was actively a part in the thread as well.
If it was on a topic I had no interest in, I probably won't bother reading it.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

I try to avoid locked threads, but I do try to post in a thread before it does get locked, just to leave my opinion on what the thread is about. So I'm glad I left a comment in this thread

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

I read them for trolling material so I can brush up on my skills. I also like to go through and "Like" awesome posts that I find in locked/old threads.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

Since I'm a moderator, I read locked threads if I've missed what happened so I know what's going on.

But even when before I was a mod, I'd read locked threads out of curiosity.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

If I just got here, and there's a new thread I hadn't seen before, and it's locked, I read it.

If I just got here, and there's an old thread on wich I usually post, and it's locked, I read it.

If there's an old thread I never checked, and it's locked, I read the last page.

If there's an old thread I used to post in, but I eventually abandoned it for whatever reason, and it's locked, I let it die in shame and go on with my life, if I stopped caring about it, I don't see why would I care about it now.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

I read them all the time.

On the forum I am a quasi on, I go a step further and reply to stuff in locked threads for the hell of it. Or carry conversations with the other people who can reply to locked threads.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

Depends.

If it's something like "WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM." I try to avoid it. But if it's something by Kee-Something, you bet your ass I'm reading it.

What makes it even more awesome is that we could go to one of the hidden sections and chat about it, but instead kept it public.

Some people call it power abuse, I call it having a little fun. Of course, a lot of topics that are locked, are locked prematurely for whatever reason (OP asking), so there's sometimes nothing in the thread that shouldn't be read ever anyways.

Plus, they can wallow in the aura of Maik and awesome.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

I do, because some of the arguements that lead to it's locking are hilarious. Take some of the conspiricy theory threads a couple weeks ago on SD, people went out of their way to make it more entertaining.

Yeah, because sometimes the locked threads are the best threads. Other times, they are terrible, and I feel dumber by reading them.

Re: Do You Read Locked Threads?

I usually do. Especially if it was thread I participated in at one point or had hardly any posts. Those threads are usually pretty silly so I might get a laugh out of them.
