So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

Just my luck, my DSL connection just went, and I'm stuck waiting until Monday for SBC to send somebody over here and fix it. In the meantime, I get to use a free SBC Yahoo! dial-up account that came with the DSL. Boy, never before have I been stuck using something that both sucks and blows at the same time. I certainly don't remember dial-up being this slow. It won't even load my site. Hell, it would barely even load yahoo.com so I could check my mail, let alone zu's forums.

Damn, and I had a ton of game reviews I needed to get up today, too.

Re: So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

Heh, I know what you mean. We have Optimum Online, and I would never in a million years go back to dial-up. Optonline is a miracle internet ^___^. I love it so much, it's so fast!

We have a router, and it goes at basically a dial-up/dsl speed. Every time they have to use it for internet they complain, so they just bought a new computer for the router in hopes it will make the router go faster. I think that isn't going to happen, but if they want to buy a new compututer who am I to stop them .

Welcome to the world of reality XD But, yeah, it does really suck, especially compared to DSL. I have only ever had dial up, so this is all i know =)

Re: So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

Using the internet has become a maddening process for me at home...

I get to speed around the Web as fast as I want during the day, then I have to go home and use dial-up. The transition is not easy, but I have no choice.

Re: So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

I had to live through 5 years of AOL and I know that I'd rather have some crazy SBC Yahoo than it again. I think I'll stick with my comcast broadband though. It's the best high speed we can get in this area.

I've got DSL back, thank God.

I don't remember it taking so long to load e-mail over dial-up.

Re: So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

Gave up on dial-up internet 2 years ago, it was that rubbish.

I moved onto broadband which now is much faster than it was when i first signed up to it.

Re: So it's true, you can never return to dial-up

350kb/s isn't as fast as some, but it's a Ceetah compared to the slug 56k is. I'd sell a kidney before I went back to dial-up.
