Eh, I don't talk leet (or whatever it is called). Is there a book that helps to translate that stuff or something?

7337 is a stupid internet dummass saying. Its OK, but I really never speak in net talk at all. I may abreviate but thats about it...

I hate all that l33t stuff and internet talking..If i ever see something written like that or like number letters or whatever, I just dont read it...
I'm fine with abbreviations, but all that other internet speak is just stupid...

No book that I know of, but it's really easy to learn. I know it pretty well. I was speaking (up there in my first post) in the most strict leet I've ever seen.

Basically leet (short for "elite") is an internet-borne speech that is a mix of english letters and numbers.

For instance:

1 = I
§ = S
1§ = is
|_ = L
3 = E
7 = t
|_337 = Leet

It gets more complicated once you add in other things, making it nearly impossible to read. I was subjected to it a lot a few years back on some of the boards I was a member of (notice I said "was" and not "am" =P )
Now a friend and I use it on occasion just cuz we think it's so completely stupid; we like to mock it a lot lol.

l337 is cool I pitty those who think differently because they think hardcore l337 is the same as l337.

To say it like this, leet is way better than any other internett language. I utterly despice all that abreviation and shortening of words. Though leet has at least been put some thought into.

Leet is fun to use when your talking to someone who has no clue what your saying like...to someone who doesnt know what leet even is "| 4/\/\ (00|_" looks like a pile of crap if u think about it.

There are many variations of leet. Some more tricky, some more basic. So I'm not wrong and you're not right =P

And how can you compare leet to abriviations? abriviations are not a language. And leet had no thought put into it. I'm willing to bet it was born through sheer happenchance.

When I say language, I mean way to write, thought most would get that.

leet has no thought put into it? Unless you've done it for a long time, you can't be so used to it that you write it naturally. And many letters written in leet consist of two symbols, thus makeing it harder and takeing longer time to write.

And belive me, abriviations is used as a language. By the time, words are given slightly different meanings, I do belive there's a difference between "you" and "u" in meaning.

AIM disease(AIM speak or whatever you call it) is a language and that's mostly abreviations and acronyms.
l337 has alot of thought put into it. There are alot more keys that have to be pressed and you have to think if you have the right letter or not.

It takes me longer to write it out but i can write it with ease. i know just what letters and numbers and cymbols to use, it just takes a few extra moments to do it, since i use it like, what, twice a year? if that?

And "u" and that sort of thing...those aren't abreviations. That's just plain lazy. Man that bugs me when people say things like that. I'm like "have you no self-respect man? do you honestly need to shave off seconds of your day by not having to punch the "y" and "o" keys?"
I know, I use "cuz" and a few others. But that's different to me. "Cuz" is how I say it, so I write it that way. Unless I'm speaking about an important matter, then I write out "because." But somehow " 'cause" just doesn't look like how it sounds; so I type "cuz."

I used to understand the basics of leet, but forgot it since then. It's been a long while since I've seen someone use it, so to relearn it may take some time, but not as much time as it did the first.
