I'm a complete and utter hopeless romantic.

Hearing about romantic stuff, seeing happy couples together, and working on new ways to spoil the ones I love, make me happy.

I have countless romantic stories and stuff I've done in the past. I'm not sure why, but I just love all that stuff.

Share some of the more romantic moments you've had in your life, first kisses? Proposals? Intimate moments? Let’s talk about it, and go "dawww" and "Squeeeeeeeee" together. And if you don't like romance, you may as well say why you don't!

May as well talk about the general topic of romance altogether.

Here's one of mine.

One of my fondest moments was my 18th birthday. 6 months earlier I had fallen in love with a girl, and she and I made love for the first time, to this song (Trains by Procupine Tree).

It became "our song" and thus was pretty special to us. Coincidentally our 6th month anniversary (lol teens) was on the 29th, and my birthday was on the 27th. So that weekend was scheduled as my birthday weekend. I asked my parents to leave with my siblings and give me the house to myself.

So I made us a fancy dinner, with the dimmed lights, and wine and all that fancy cheesy stuff. And invited her over, so that instead of a party it would just be a romantic evening in. What she didn't know was that I had spent months learning how to play and sing that song. And I had set up my room with 70 candles and an acoustic guitar.

You can guess the rest yeah? I told her I needed a moment, and ran to my room and began lighting candles. Took me forever, lol she thought the food had gone down badly xD. I finally got all the candles lit, and grabbed her hand and walked her towards my room where I told her there was something she needed to hear. As soon as I opened the door her eyes watered, and she turned and hugged me.

The rest of it was just so surreal. I laid her down and she hugged me whilst I picked up my guitar and sang in front of someone for the first time in my life. Just absolute pure euphoria.

She cried, and then we made love. And I've never sung to any one since (:

I freaking love that story. And even though I'm not with her anymore, just thinking about how awesome that night was makes me smile.

Nope, never really had a romantic story like that to share, unless you count going on a roller coaster together for the first time.

Well, I'm a teenager, so what do I know about romance? All the couples at my school embrace each other in public, which is extremely rude.

yeah, I'm pretty hopelessly romantic. Little moments with random females (some of whom I never even see again) stick with me a long time. The need for romantic affection and love from a woman is a big obsessive portion of my motives in everything I do.

that being said, I'm trying to let go of that part of myself - not entirely, but just enough to be content more often.

aaw, cute story. :> I didn't go SQUEE or AAAWW, but I don't really do that a lot.

anyway, I think I might have been a hopeless romantic, but over many years it had buried under layer upon layer of anger, cynicism and guardedness.

I'm still a teenager what are you talking about?

I've always been like this as well. When I was 8 I wrote a girl a poem. Horribly cliche and predictable but I was 8.

Also I hardly see couples embracing each other as being objectively rude. That's a cultural thing, in many European and South American nations it's common place to embrace each other publically, or even kiss.

Ever been to the Spanish steps?

Sure my family is more liberal than most. But I can't see how it's stupid.

I'm almost inclined to say that the opposite is more stupid. It shows they trusted me and are willing to make compromises and treat me like the adult I very much am/was.

Some of the craziest romantic moments ever had, have been between adults, I hardly see how being romantic or enjoying romance in general has anything to do with being juvenile, or something which is to be grown out of.

I'm not romantic, nor have I ever had any romantic experiences thus far, but as soon as I hit sixteen, and get my drivers license, maybe things will start.

Secretly I'm a romantic, but I hide it fairly well I suppose. I don't have much in the way of experience and up until about a year ago I had basically given up all hope. Seeing other happy couples still makes me jealous and upset.

I'm an old-fashioned romantic. I'm all about sweet gestures and surprise gifts and candlelit dinners. This comes as a great surprise to most people who know me.

Seeing all of the other couples suck face in public gets on my nerves a lot. So the whole romance thing never looked all too appealing to me. I did date a girl about a year ago. Lasted three months. She immediately proceeded to date my best friend and now she routinely runs up to him and starts, making out when I'm talking to him, like she's trying to p*ss me off. And it works.

All I can think of is the day my boyfriend asked me out. :3

He's Sardine here on ZU and I've known him since I was 15, I believe. That's four years we've known each other and we've been dating for over a year now (not including breaking up twice). But that day was two days before Christmas 08, I believe. And would you look at that? 8 is my lucky number. x3

I also won't forget the Valentine's Day present Sardine gave me in 09. A heart-shaped box of chocolates! <3 Oh, and he sent me a beautiful Pegasus picture that I have hanging on my door as a (really really really late) birthday present the same year.

What can I say? I love you, Dave! <3 (his real name)

My autism spectrum affects my ability to interact with women. I wll not give up though. I shall continue to search for the right lady.

Hm. Well, I was in a long distance relationship for several years, if that counts. That ended in one of the worst ways I can think of.

Long story short, I am like... very much not a good person.

I have never been in love. I've had crushes, sure, but I haven't ever been in love with anyone. But I'm still young

I mostly have to deal with boys who decide they like me and I hafta let them down easy...not fun :/

My hubby proposed to me on our engagement retreat! And he was shaking as though I would say "no." It was adorable.

He first proposed to me online before we even met, and I said "yes" then, but I didn't want to tell anybody until we met in person and I could have an "in person" proposal.

So during our retreat, he wrote this long beautiful thing (English major with great interest in Creative Writing <3) about our love or something like that, and he went down on one knee and read the whole thing. With a rose in his hand. Then he held my hand, and his was all cold and shaky and said, "Eve Kassi Breeze" (lol that's totally my real name) "Will you marry me?" And I'm pretty sure I said, "What are you so nervous about? This is our engaged encounter. Did you seriously think I'd say 'No?'" or something like that and then I hugged him and said yes.

And then we tried to tell my parents after that and I don't think it went well. I don't remember, I just blacked out because I was so scared and regathered consciousness with my mom yelling, "WHAT?!" (A reaction very strikingly similar to what I had predicted)

And NOW they understand us and are pretty supportive. =3

Yeah, I'm a hopeless romantic. But I have terrible luck with men. Just terrible. I've kind of given up on true love for me at this point, so I live vicariously through mushy movies and stories.

The most romantic moment for me? I was a junior in high school, and in high school I was heavily involved in theater. During the spring musical, this one guy tried out. He was one of the star players in football, very good looking, and had a heart of gold. It was like he stepped out of some John Hughes film. And he talked to me. He was nice to me. Needless to say I fell head-over-heels pretty quickly. During play practice, whenever he'd sit next to me, my heart would leap. There was this one time during rehearsal, I ran off into backstage, and tripped over something, and he gave me quite a protective hug as he caught me... 17 year-old Calli thought she was in some cliche shojo comic. It was all so cheesy, thinking about it now, but I miss that feeling.

During the drama department's formal gala at the end of the school year, we'd all get gussied up and dance the night away. I was sitting with some friends, when he sat down across from me, placed his hand on my leg, looked me straight in the eyes and told me "you look really pretty tonight". Yeah, I just about melted. And then we slow danced to a Frank Sinatra song and he'd dip me and I had never been so happy.

Despite the fact that he showed up at a bonfire with a girl from another school a week later (and has been dating her since), I still look back at that fondly. I couldn't bring myself to hate him for breaking my heart, he was nice to me, and that really isn't much of a crime. I don't think I'll ever feel that again, and I don't want to cast a negative shadow on it.

Zach drug out our first kiss so long that I was pretty sure it would never happen. We were walking through my favorite park& rose garden and there were so many good moments that he could've done it, I was getting really discouraged & was almost sure he wasn't interested in me after all. I was getting a little antsy and worried so we went to the playground (2pm in Arizona summer = empty park), and I sat down on the teeter-totter thingy and wasn't really paying attention to much; he sat down right in front of me and took my face in his hands and gave me the sweetest, most gentle kiss ever.
I am a firm believer in story-telling being stupid and ridiculous, but my head spun, heart stopped, all of it. I had to catch my breath after wards.

Before we got back together in February, he called me at like... 3 AM, I was dead asleep. I answered the phone kinda groggy and he said "Amy I have something I have to tell you." I kinda mumbled my answer back and he responded with you "I love you, I've loved you forever now, I can't stand it I love you, okay?" Also the best 3AM phone call of my life.

Relationships never work out for me. Ever. I think the longest I've ever gone was a long-ish distance one that went for about 4-5 months.

Love and crushes hate me.

That's about all there is to my "love" life.
