I have no idea, because I am not versed on the effects of those particular drugs. All I know is that alcohol has more potential to be harmful than marijuana, by far.

But as far as legally being self-destructive as in cocaine and heroin, sure, why not? People do it anyway.

Gay marriage
Marijuana (even though I never want to try it)
Alcohol at age 18

Other than that, I'd get rid of the government and replace it with an anarchy, but that's not very relevant to this topic.

If you drink regularly, but with restraint, then you're safe for sure. In fact, a small amount of alcohol is good for you.

Inhaling smoke is bad for you period.

i oppose the 18yr drinking age, I'm under 21 and know that most (i didn't say all) of the people under 21 (and some over) I know, are not mature enough to handle drinking.

I don't really know why people like using the whole "if you're old enough to fight in a war you're old enough to drink" thing.
The big difference to me is that if you're fighting a war, killing people is encouraged.

exactly, the truth is there are some people who just arent mature enough to handle drinking. a lot of the people i know who are over 21 ( and i mean, way over) and people who are under do stupid things, mostly drinking and driving.

At least secondhand smoke can actually be avoided and is prohibited in most public places. Whereas drunk driving doesn't exactly give a **** who it happens to or where.

Tonch is right, you dont hear about cases of manslaughter involving pot. Its actually much more harmless than tobacco. Do the research!

now here's a thread that makes sense.

let's see, I mentioned three things in the other thread:

1 - same-sex marriage. It's legal in some places, but in the United States only five states have legalized it. It makes absolutely no sense for this to be illegal.

2 - marijuana, among other drugs. People should be allowed to do whatever they want to their own bodies, as long as they don't hurt anyone else. So, if you smoke something, do it in your own house, but smoke whatever the hell you want. As with tobacco and alcohol, this should be legal for anyone who has reached the age of majority.

3 - doctor assisted suicide/euthanasia for those who request it of sound mind and are suffering from a terminal illness. In the United States, this is legal in only three states. If you're dying anyway, you should be allowed to request a quick and painless death. As long as you make the request of your own consent and are completely sound of mind, there is no reason to not allow this.

I would make marrying cheese legal =D

I think I've mentioned this pretty recently. Inhaling any kind of smoke is bad for your lungs, but not near as bad as inhaling the chemicals in cigarettes. It's never even been proven that smoking marijuana is carcinogenic to begin with, and the only studies done on it were during an age where it was convenient to pile bad concepts onto a drug because of pop culture.

Marijuana is also not going to hurt your heart, another known organ to be affected by cigarettes, and won't even complicate any preexisting heart conditions.

Also, as I mentioned recently in another thread, nobody smokes a pack or two of joints a day. (Fun fact: If you smoke less than half a pack of cigarettes a day, most doctors would have you put on a form that you don't smoke)

In addition to these facts, there's the matter that there are other means of ingesting it. You can eat it whole, cook it into meals, distill it into a tincture, or use it as you would chewing tobacco and absorb the psychoactive chemicals through the mucus membrane.

Like somebody else mentioned, I'd make dumpster diving legal. Seriously, people throw away really nice stuff just because they don't want it, they move and don't have room, etc. I'm hella poor, so I was ecstatic when I obtained a brand new ironing board, gorgeous decorative pillars (for potted plants), and even laptops I've been able to fix up and resell.

And gay marriage, even though it's been mentioned numerous time.

Oh, and hitting your children (not in an abusive manner, obviously). Nowadays, CPS is called if a parent so much as paddles their kids' behinds. Peh.
