Okay, it was about 6:15, and it was already pretty dark out. I was walking home from my friends house, and it's about a 15 minute slow walk. There was a group of girls walking ahead of me, but a little slowly. So, I was a little cold, so I had a brisk pace. They saw me walk around them, screamed, and then hit me with a shoe.

Yeah, anything else happen like this to you?

Something similar once happened to me, except without the getting hit with a shoe part.

Obviously you were very creepy to them.

I remember in college noticing that girls tended to get scared if they saw a guy in a stairwell or walking near them at night or something.... weird. It always made me kinda angry cuz obviously I wouldn't do something like that.

Yeah, its best to just stay as far away as possible depending on the time of day. Some defense classes teach women to walk around with a key between their fingers and then to aim for the eye if they feel like they're in danger. Approaching someone just doesn't seem worth losing an eye to me.

But seriously, I can understand why someone might react in a fearful manner if they were alone, but in a group people usually consider themselves safe. Odd.

I've had something a little similar happen. I was walking down the street one night after work and there happened to be a woman in front of me. I was walking faster than her so naturally I soon got closer to her. She must have heard my footsteps since she looked back a couple of times. Then suddenly she just stopped. Gave me a bit of a shock really, 'cos she just turned and stared at me, then pretended to fumble in her pocket or something. I just ignored her and kept walking. Later I was just like "....wtf."
