Heroic Moments in Your Life

Would you like to share some of them? Basically, what I'm talking about is, when you or a friend has done something very heroic and selfless at a certain time in life. For example, scoring the winning point in a sport, standing up for your friend to someone intimidating, completing a task against all odds. These moments for me, really make me feel good and boost my day. I know it sounds really cheesy, but you know what I'm talking about.

For example, about 6 months I was playing football, which I like never do, mainly because I make a fool out of myself when I play sports, but for the first time, I was the one that got the hand-off which I REALLY didn't want, because I didn't want to disappoint anyone when I failed to do anything right (yeah, I have some self-esteem issues) but anyway, I started running as fast as I could from the 10-yard line onward, and this huge kid was chasing me, probably 3 times my size and weighed at least 200 something pounds (I'm pretty small), this encouraged me to run even faster, pretty much like I was running for my life, because I would probably be a pancake after he tackled me. Got the ball all the way across the field from the 10-yard line to the end zone, which was a big achievement for me because I suck at sports, and really can never get into them during the Superbowl, Playoffs, or anything like that. So anyway, all the cliche jock kids congratulated me and gave me a pat on the back, which meant a lot to me. Well, I've rambled on long enough.

Got any heroic moments that made you want to yell "WOOHOO!"?

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Well, I did once save my neighbor's dog from a fire, but other than that I'm not a very heroic person.

I hold the door open for random strangers

That and I once saved a rabid baby from drowning in a bathtub while the house was on fire and being stalked by a bear. But that's not that big of a deal.

As per actual "heroic" moments, I can't think of any on the spot. I've pulled a dog that seemingly couldn't swim (or at least wasn't that good at it) from a lake. Some small stuff like that but nothing worth mentioning.

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

I bring much needed awesome to people's lives on a daily basis.

Te biggest thing that comes to mind is the following. I guess it would be at least 8 years ago, my lacrosse team was in provincial semi finals, sudden death over time. I was playing a great game in net, and with a minute and a half left we got the ball in our end, and my coach pulled me to the bench on the rush up the floor sow e could have an extra attacker on. We managed to keep the bal down there for a while and get a few shots on net, but could score. With just over 20 secs left the other team intercepted the ball and got a quick break. Luckily one of our guys was hanging back just a little and bolted to the bench. As soon as he got there I hustled my ass as fast as I could in 50 lbs of equipment back into net just in time to slide acrosse the crease and block e shot to send us into doublt OT.

We lost the game in the end, but I heard about how great a save that was for about 2 seasons after that, so I've always been pretty proud of it. Just another show of how awesome I am.

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

I once whacked a guy who was mugging some girl upside the head with a metal baseball bat. It knocked him out. When the lady tried to thank me and give me some money, I ran away. I don't like people. I'm not shy, I'm antisocial.

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

^Why are you here? Anyway, you should have taken the money.

This happened on a field trip day back when I was in 6th grade. Yeah, pretty young, I know. Our trip was in the mountains. We were assigned different groups, and after two hours of hiking on a trail with my group, the chaperone's dog slid off the cliff and fell to his death. So she started crying for her dog, and while we stood, not knowing what to do, some smart girl decided to LOOK OVER and see if she could spot his body or something. She lost her balance on the spot and began to fall. Luckily, I stood right next to her and grabbed her hand just when she was about to escape my reach. With the help of a friend a lifted her to safety.

Another was in a football game. I play strong safety on the football team. We were up 20-16 in the 4th quarter with 19 seconds left, and 4th and goal for the opponent. Our defense had to make a stand. So the QB took the snap, and threw to the tight end in the end zone, who was wide open. He caught the ball, and as he turned I pounded his midriff as hard as I could. The ball flew out, a nearby corner got it and ran it back for a TD. And that sealed the deal.

Yeah, so heroic.

The building was on fire, and a nuclear meltdown had just happened; plus, a bomb was about to go off. An old guy and a bus of down babies were in there. The zoo had lost several lions, tigers, and bears (the building was a kiosk surrounded by the habitats). I walked in and carried the passed-out old person, drove the bus out of there, and had a chocolate milkshake.

Oh, I had a HAZMAT suit, too.

I actually hold doors open for anyone who's passing by. It's heroic enough since I get the satisfaction of a "Thank You."

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

I had a friend who was about to hang himself and I was able to coax him out of it and talk him out of suicide once. It took about four hours of coaxing to get him off the chair. I don't think I deserve much credit for it though, I mean anyone who is a good friend would do the same thing in that situation.

I'm disappointed in how many people just don't hold the door for people, at all. I was raised that way so I can't really imagine doing much else if someone is coming behind me.

I once foiled a terrorist plot and saved New York City from destruction.

Then I woke up.

Otherwise, I once saved a drowning kid but nobody noticed (which was why I had to do it).

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

At the cost of myself going into a state of depression, I've helped countless people get out of states of depression, by just helping them remember the good times they've had in their lives, and just helped them along the way onto the road out of depression.

Needless to say, it cost me my sanity, and now, I'm that creepy rambling dude that no one wants to get along with, but will still give out advice that actually does wonders to help people.

I think the most heroic thing I've ever done is tell someone which subway train to get on.

Nothing exciting ever happens around here.

I can only remember one time back in Cuba, when I saved a boy my age from drowning because he couldn't swim.

...Only because I accidentally pushed him without knowing he couldn't...

Re: Heroic Moments in Your Life

There's this guy on my apartment floor. He owns a cat who likes to go outside... I let it in when it rains.

Hm. I did catch a random child who was about to do a face-plant on hard ceramic tile at work. The look she gave me, her eyes were so wide with amazement. But her mother on the other hand, didn't appreciate it and thought I was a molester. Parents these days.

I wish I could do things to inspire people like SOME people here...
