Re: Your favorite clothing companies?

I don't really care about which company makes my clothing. I always find awesome shoes or pants for reaaaaally expensive, and then I end up finding the same exact design with a different label elsewhere for often less than half of the price, and nobody can ever tell the different. I'm all for buying expensive clothes if they're really nice, but I'll get the off-brand label if I can. When it comes to pants, I'll buy the more expensive ones because they are made with better material, and I'm tired of having them torn apart during heavy duty work.

...and ripped clothing for hella expensive? Hell no. When I see people throwing money away on that crap, I just wanna suffocate them with their shopping bags. You want the ripped hobo look? Buy a cheap pair of jeans and have at them with a razor blade.

Re: Your favorite clothing companies?

As long as it's comfortable, and fits my style, nothing else matters. It's a nice bonus that my taste in clothing is usually pretty affordable. Excapt for that badass leather jacket that cost me $300. It was worth it, however.

Re: Your favorite clothing companies?

It's to be expected that ZU does not prioritize clothing or invest in recognized labels .

There's also the issue of douchebaggery and clothing. Some people have bad taste, yes (people who shop at Abercrombie or buy Versace t-shirts), but some like to purchase designer clothes because they provide quality style. If you're into style, you should know that it is very hard to shop for the items you want for an outfit at discount stores and, sometimes, even Dillard's. A lot of stylish people are also conscious of cost and are not snobs about labels, which is why they don't hesitate to purchase something that's actually nice at Target. People really shouldn't be judging such people as douchebags or dumb, money-wasting snobs. Stylish people are unique among masses because not too many people know crap about clothing, and they should be respected for their interests and unique lifestyles.

Word.

I may have jeans/jackets/scarves/what have you that cost substantial amounts of money, but it lasts a long times and I still get compliments and questions about pieces I bought years ago.

Re: Your favorite clothing companies?

^That's very true as well. The Purple Label (an RL top tier brand) white shirt I got as a gift 3 years ago is still among my favorite shirts. Though it's just a plain white dress shirt, the quality is just too good, and it will last forever. I'm also wanting to get a Tom Ford suit, and those start at around $3,500. It's not about "I'm going to make room in my budget to get that and go brag about it" but because Tom Ford suits are extremely good suits that are a lifetime investment. It's like having bought a piece of fine furniture.

Assuming you stay in shape. Tom Ford are custom fitted to you last time I checked.

Tom Ford is definitely one of the very best for menswear atm, even his accessories are gorgeous, probably the best suits are coming from him recently. (TBH, those of you that aren't interested should just watch James Bond and wear what he wears as the top designers are choosen to dress him, Casino Royale featured Brioni and Quantum of Solace was Tom Ford. )

Agreed. I admit I've bought some pricey stuff before, because I'd get impulsive about it. Luckily it didn't get that far, and I've learned that style can be found outside of expensive stores if you look carefully.

I can say that I have a touch for style, but if it's too pricey, what's the point? Like looking better is really more important than, say, filling your fridge with good food or donating it to someone that needs it. We all deserve our treats of course, but think of the things we could be doing with the money spent on pricey stuff.

I do think that something expensive can last longer, but that isn't always the case.

Now, for something more interesting. There's a chain store here in Sweden called NK, where everything is ridiculously expensive. Some unfortunately refuse to shop elsewhere, thinking NK's for the 'elite'. A buddy of mine told me that where I shop is okay, because that's where he gets his underwear. Didn't give it much thought at the time, but I remembered he'd been talking trash about that store before, so I guess he thought it was ♥♥♥♥. Meanwhile, he had spent enough money on an ugly jacket that could feed a family for a month, literally. Seriously.

I see myself as in the process of still learning to buy cheaper stuff, as I would spend a little too much before, but luckily I never took it that far. Honestly, I've been closeminded to some degree about labels, and I'm glad I've realized it this early.

My favourite brand would have to be Batistini, from Dressman. It's not too expensive and I like the style.

Also, to think I've actually heard of a girl that didn't have anything left to pay the rent with after she went shopping. Damn. =/

I'm jealous. I've always wanted to go through thrift stores and be lucky enough to find a whole bunch of clothes, but I never can. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong ones.

THRIFT STORES YOU SAY?!

(seriously, just streetview the ♥♥♥♥ out of that street, it is insane.)

I...don't really buy clothes that often. I wear stuff until it is literally unwearable, soooo. But in terms of clothing stores that it comes from, it is mostly Gap and Old Navy. That about covers it. Other stuff I wear is mostly band merch or ordered from the LOL INTERNET.

it just takes a hell of a lot of patience. I often find the best stuff when I don't expect it. my personal favourite find was a distressed denim blazer for $15. label: abercrombie and fitch. original retail value: $79.99. twas a good day.

but it really depends on your personal style, your size, and where the thrift store is.

Notsil: tambien. but their jeans never seem to fit me quite right. :/

EDIT: nolan, despite not being from Toronto I bizarrely know right where that is. I went there on a school trip and at one point our bus driver got lost and we passed by a ton of those places. weirdddd. looks awesome though.

I've only bought two pairs of jeans from there, and so var I'm likin' them. But when it comes to kahkis, shirts, jackets, hats, button-up-shirts, shoos and all that jazz, Kohls is awesome.

I rarely buy anything from Kensington, but I spend whole days there just going in to all the different stores. Such a cool area of the city.

Wow. My ignorance of Canada surprised me right there, I never would've guessed that could be in Canada.
