Gentlemen, place your bets! On my sickness!

We've all been sick, right? You want something to preoccupy you. So... in a (probably vain) attempt to cheer myself up, I've decided to make a list of my symptoms and have yall all take a gander at what you think I'll be diagnosed with come this Wednesday, at which point I will describe what happened/the answer for those curious. : D Isn't that fun? Take a guess if you think you can get it right.

~It all started Sunday. I woke up and had a very croaky/raspy voice, not to mention waking up late (around 11:00 pm). I figured I was losing my voice and had a bit of a cough, but it wasn't too bad. I had to work at 11:30 pm and because I had no way to call in (don't ask, long story about phone and Verizon), I drove down there to tell them I couldn't work, but since I knew they probably wouldn't cut me some slack, I dressed in uniform. Probably stupid of me, but I did. So I got there and bing bing bing I'm a winner, they didn't let me off. So I work for a few hours (4 or 5), voice is very whispery at this time. Once I'm off I grab some ice cream thinking it might help my throat/cough and down a pint. I go to sleep incredibly early for me usually- (Instead of 2-3 in the morning, 11-12pm.)

~Sunday morning, 3 am I wake up and realize I really feel like crap. Unable to sleep, so I toss and turn a little until Monday morning... So Monday morning I wake up and feel terrible. It's around 11:30 and I decide to go book an appointment at the doctor's because my cough has progressed to really harsh and really dry. Sometimes I get clear mucous with it, but most of the time nothing. So I drive down, make an appointment, and come back, eat some ChikFila, rest, and eat some chicken soup/pump myself with OJ. It is now one am and I'm wondering if I'll ever get better after only two days. The following are my symptoms.

~Occasional sneezing/needing to blow nose, almost never with color.
~No sore throat, although just a tiny twinge of discomfort.
~Dry, very harsh coughing coming from deep throat or further down (I'm thinking lungs). Usually when I cough with a cold, I think it's like, not hard, just a sudden whoosh of air and never painful. It sometimes comes with a teaspoon or so of clear mucous, but not often.
~Rattling noise in my chest when I cough
~Fatigue and general tiredness
~Short of breath/wheezing occasionally can be heard if I'm quietly breathing.
~Chest pain, both just below throat and below my chest.
~Voice is hushed or raspy.

So I'll list a few choices, feel free to ask questions or such. Oh and if you think other, tell me what you think it is. :3 Thanks.

It sounds like lupus.

That is not swine flu. Swine flu is very gnarly and a key factor in it is sore throat followed by bad muscle aches.
You have something similar to what i had back in July. Its probably Bronchitis or a respiratory infection. I would get the H1N1 test just to make sure though.

Sounds like the flu to me, athough I voted for the last option.

Update: I was awoken this morning (Tuesday at eight thirty) by a coughing fit which clearly contained some kind of fluid, but none of it came up. I feel incredibly tired and am short of breath. My right side of my chest feels swelled compared to my other side. Edit: I am sneezing less and my nose isn't as runny/isn't stuffed.

Ask Dr. House. :3

Anyway, first I wanted to say that it was a pretty common cold, but pain and rattling noise in the chest sounds serious. It's probably not common cold or any kind of flu, because I used to have those, and I didn't have such things with my lungs; however, you could get some extra inflammations with the "normal" cold and/or flu, what makes your chest hurt.
I've never had bronchitis, but as I know, it doesn't make your cough dry. I could be wrong, though. You could try to drink some kind of teas, they could help you to ease the cough, and the pain in your chest. Feel better. :3

LUPUS ? IS IT LUPUS?!

Although the dry throat makes me a little wary of my choice, I still said bronchitis. I definitely think you don't have the swine flu or the flu, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to get checked for them while you're at the doctors.

Probably a chest cold or a flu, though could be a chest infection. Had enough of those, not nice, especially when they develop into pneumonia

I'm thinking something like broncidus or very minor pneumonia. The only thing though is that, if you did have it, you should have colored snot, but like others said, go to the doctor.

I'm sorry, but what you are describing are common symptoms of gonoherpesiphilAIDS. You only have 6 months to live.

The first three options are the same thing.

H1N1 (the common cold) is a subtype of Influenza A (the flu), and H1N1/09 (Swine flu) is just this year's strain of H1N1.
