Re: TP Underrated -A rant

It's a pitiful port.

Tacked on gimmicky controls, the graphics aren't optimized at all, and as such look less than what they do on the GC.

In the end though Gamespot is a crap site to go to for reviews anyway.

I'm still pissed that butthurt fanboys can't get over the fact GameSpot gave out that score. Seriously, if you think that TP is a great game and it's perfect, that is you.

If someone else think that the game wasn't all that great, that's them. Get over it.

Re: TP Underrated -A rant

Anyone who thinks Gamespot is a reliable source of gaming reviews and information is sadly mistaken.

Re: TP Underrated -A rant

You shouldn't care too much for what gamespot and IGN says, you should judge it on your own liking. The only times i watch reviews are before renting/buying a game.

I still believe TP is a good game. It is not a great game.

I still believe TP is a good game. It is not a great game in my opinion.

Is the presumed interpretation, I surmise.

You gotta admit, ever since they fired Jeff, that place has gone to hell.

Re: TP Underrated -A rant

I never liked gamespot and never went there honestly, their site design was crap, and in the end they showed themselves to be biased to whoever throws the most money at them, that's hardly professional.

I've never gone to gamespot, but IGN is reliable, the way I see it.

Jeff Gerstman? Really?

Well that makes me happy! He's the one who gave Twilight Princess an 8.8!

I've always enjoyed Gamespot, personally. Until Jeff was fired.

Do you know about the whole Jeff fiasco? If you don't, keep reading.

First off, Jeff is the guy that rated TP an 8.8 on the Wii. Sure, it may have been a harsh rating (I personally would've given it a 9.2), but that's the reason why I loved that guy. He nitpicked at every single aspect of a game and he wasn't afraid to hurt the feelings of fanboys. He was one of the only reasons why I visited that site.

Anyways, around the end of 2007, he had to review a game called 'Kane & Lynch: Dead Men'. It was obviously a horrible game. It recieved an average of about 65% - 75% from most video game websites. Jeff reviewed it, and gave it the average: 70%.

Now here is what the problem was.

Days before the review, Gamespot's entire site was decorated with Kayne and Lynch banners. It's quite obvious that the company that made Kayne and Lynch (Eidos Interactive) paid Gamespot to promote the game. However, within a day or two after the review was posted up, it was taken down. Then about a week later (maybe 2 weeks, I forget) Jeff was fired.

Most of Gamespot's respect has been lost after that day. Hell, they lost mine.

Gamespot was the best video game website. They reviewed games without bias. Recently, however, this is not true.

So, what's the good that has come out of this? Jeff is making his own video game website called 'Giant Bomb', and I think it will become the best damn video game site ever created.

Re: TP Underrated -A rant

I'm aware of it.

However most review sources, rated TP higher, and praised it.

I do believe that TP was underrated by Gamespot, but I admire Jeff's review because he had some serious balls. He told you straight out what he didn't like about the game, whether the fanboys liked it or not.

However, every other site praised it a little too much, and were blinded so much by nostalgia that they completely ignored the games flaws.

TP doesn't deserve a 10/10, but it doesn't deserve an 8.8/10 either. I would've given it a 9.2 or 9.3.

Re: TP Underrated -A rant

I think the reasoning it gets a 10/10 at times, is because it does what it set out to do.

Yes, it did do what it was set out to do. It did it perfectly, actually.

But, unfortunately, it didn't go the extra mile. It didn't bring much to the table when it came to innovation.

So, I think the Zelda fanbase is split into two parts.

The ones that are fine with the current Zelda formula.

And, the ones who want to see something new.

Depending on which you're in, the rating differs.
