Triforce quest: Is it really THAT bad?

I still cannot understand the hatred of the Triforce quest.

ZELDA IS ABOUT EXPLORATION...it makes you EXPLORE...yet, it is universally hated!? I really do not understand it. I think people are just jumping on the bandwagon with it. I've never seen anyone in real life who actually really thought it was that bad.

MAYBE if you saved it all for the very end, but who does that? On all three of my TWW playthroughs I have spread it out, and I like it that way. And how is it unrewarding? The ending of TWW is definitely the best of any Zelda.

I can understand maybe not liking it (I mean, I wish they would have put in 1-2 more dungeons instead of it, but I'm glad they put it in rather then just completing the Wind Temple and then going down to Hyrule...plus, it was a good tour of the Great Sea) but calling it "mindnumbingly boring" and "not able to play through the game a second time" because of it, is frankly, totally ridicolous.

I can't believe how many times I've heard people say on forums that they stopped playing the game at that point and never finished it because it was that bad...I mean, honestly, all I can say to that is:

WTF

i don't necessarily think its a waste of time but as you said i would have prefered 1 or 2 more dungeons.

Yea, maybe one dungeon where all the Triforce Charts are and you have to find them all...then maybe you find the pieces of the Triforce in the dungeon as well, or maybe in the Great Sea.

I never thought the Triforce Quest was bad.
I used that time to explore the entire ocean, and just have fun.

I didn't really mind it, although I think it was a cheap cop-out for not having thought of a couple more dungeons. It did give me some time to run around and check out all the islands, though, and that was really fun.

The Triforce quest was my favorite part of the game. I absolutely loved how you had to go around searching for the maps, battling the enemies, bringing up the treasure...it really was like a treasure hunt.

Meh, it was ok. I mean it wasn't that great but atleast there was still some fighting involved in this quest. Plus it would be a pretty short game without it.

It was pretty good. I liked exploring around the ocean looking for maps and the triforce pieces.

Exploring the ocean to find the charts was awesome, but paying crap loads of hard earned cash so the little *BLEEP tingle could decipher them, that wasn't. Yes, I said he was a *BLEEP, a greedy one too

It's as bad as people say. Fetch quests are bad alone, but when you have to find 8 charts, 3200 rupees, and 8 triforce pieces....its just too ****ing long.

Dull as mud.

I hated the fact I had to spend all my rupee's on getting maps decipherd by Tingle, Okay, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Tingle, but after giving him rupee after rupee I just wanted to stab him.

Then the actuall gathering of the shards took forever and was so damn boring, what with all the sailing around, changing the wind every 5 minutes and getting into crappy sea battles with octopi and those floating cannons.

I'd rather it be a couple of dungeons or temples wih some boss fights at the end or somthing

I liked it a lot. But then again, I loved the sailing of tWW. Only bad part about it was getting the money, which took a while.

It was nice, a good chance to explore the small islands and it was like a treasure hunt

I guess about the money, but they give out like 1500 rupees along the way to get the charts.

The thing that irritated me was when you got all eight charts and when to Tingle, he had to do that stupid TINGLE TINGLE KOOLOOH LIMPAH thing for each one. Why couldn't he have just asked the player if you wanted all of them translated and then he would only do it once?

Its fun but I would have liked it more if you had to do mini dungeons or something rather than just yank them up from the seafloor. Not to mention the maps aren't really neccesary. I did it without even using the maps my second playthrough.

It wasn't that bad. A lot of people seem to hate trying to save up the money to pay Tingle, but that doesn't bother me. Rupees are pretty easy to come by in The Wind Waker anyway...I usually build up funds by finding Tingle Statues and breaking jars in the Savage Labyrinth's rest points.

I disliked the Trioforce quest. It would have been a lot better if they sqeuzed in a few more dungeon where like 1/3 of the triforce of courage was held. The triforce quest wasn't fun but a few points, (the ghost ship, the maze inside your house) could of been expanded into dungeons.

I actually really liked the Triforce Quest, with the treasure hunting and the exploration of the islands. It let me take in more of the scenery as well, but I completely agree - TINGLE MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF! He basically takes all your money for nothing. And I agree with NintendoTogepi, all the Koolooh limpahs were extremely annoying. *readies pitchfork and rotisserie*

I think it was fun, but would have worked better as a sidequest. Though I guess they needed the Triforce of Courage a bit too much to have done that.

Yes, it's bad. The whole sailing thing is bad in The Wind Waker. Simply put, it takes too long. It was an interesting idea, but poorly executed.

I actually liked it pretty much. It made you look around in Hyrule, and letting you to know it... At least I did...
I actually found a Triforce shard before knowing I should... I actually thought I had got the entire triforce of courage!

I actually LOVED the Triforce Questing part! Yeah, it was really fun, going out and collecting all the charts and, afterward, Triforce shards. Everytime, I fill out my Seachart while on this quest. It's really not that bad.

What I found to be one of the worst points of the game was Tingle's ridiculous price for deciphering each chart. Yes, I had the largest wallet at the time (it can carry up to 5,000 rupees), but what does that change, really? You still have to go out and earn the money! That's the most boring and tedious part of the whole quest!

I hardly even noticed it the first time through, but at the time I was still brainwashed by IGN and EGM into believing that WW was the defining moment of gaming.

Upon numerous replays, the sour boredom of the triforce quest really shone through. It wasn't tedious enough for me to hate it with all my beings, but it got me thinking that the game would have been a much better experience without it.
