The game was originally developed for Gamecube, and later ported to the Wii half way through production.

The Wii controls work pretty well, but they're nothing groundbreaking. Certainly not worth buying the Wii specifically for TP.

Get the game for GC, but buy a Wii for: SSBB, Metroid Prime 3, New Super Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, LCT, Mario Kart Wii, and of course in anticipation of the next Zelda title. Add in some supposedly decent third party games down the road.. (like a new FFCC) and you can see cause to get a wii.

Still, the GC version, in my opinion, is better then the Wii version for TP, despite the major "differences" being minimal.

I like both versions (I own the GC one and the Wii one too), the unique difference (without counting the controllers) it´s that the whole world map is inverted, and that´s cool........ I completed the GC version first and late when I get my Wii and started to play TP was very funny to see everything inverted.....

The Wii controllers are great but I still prefer the Game Cube one....

I'd have bought the Wii and TP for it, if I felt like spending that much money for a console. Which, right now, I don't. I personally think that the gameplay is obviously a lot more fun on the Wii, particularly I'd imagine for the bow and arrow and swordplay.

But, yeah, since it's originally a GC game (the Wii version is the one that's backwards), just go for that one. Check Craigslist for GCs... they're all over the place, and cheap. Though Gamestop.com - Buy PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS, Xbox 360, Used, PC Games and Consoles sells consoles with a single controller, used, for $30. That's where I got mine, but honestly it's best to look around for private sales.

either or, the only difference is that the Wii version is reversed version of the gamecube one.

I have both versions (show my friends i had enough money to have pride in my zelda fanboy-ness ) I like both, but I like the GC one better cause aiming with the Bow and Arrows is more of a challenge.

I thought controls were problematic in the Wii version. Swordplay was made much clunkier in TP than other Zelda games, which really shows in the Wii version where there's like a half second delay between flicking your wrist and actually performing the slash. It kinda ruins the immersion.

Played both versions (and own the GCN version), and I still prefer the GameCube build to the Wii port by a slight margin, largely due to the controls...

...but primarily due to the "canonical" un-mirrored map, which is storyline-consistent with all previous games in the series, while the Wii version isn't. It's a personal preference, sure, but an important distinction to me.

I prefer GCN version mostly because its not backwards and I like the controls better and I'm more used to the controls so they're easier for me.

I decided to get the Wii version as I found it better than the GC version. The main reason for this is because I have a HDTV and RGB doesn't look nice on a HDTV set. The UK GC doesn't support a Component cable and because of this I decided to get the Wii version. I must have superior picture quality when playing a game which I know will be dam good. Another good thing is the Wii version also supports a 16:9 screen ratio unlike the GC version.

I know I could buy the GC version and play it on my Wii but that seems pointless to me.

it was designed for Gamecube, the Wii version is the exact same, but with everything mirrored, you don't really get a better experience with the controller, sometimes is hard to execute attacks, if you like pointless remote shaking, get a Wii and TP, if you want everything to be as it should be, and to be able to defend while on a horse, get a Wii anyway, but the Gamecube TP.
either way, get Brawl.

I would say that when it comes down to it, both games are identical (except with the controls and the mirrored world, and a few other minor differences). And the decision is basically, which do you prefer? Do you like using the controller or do you like to use the Wii remote? Since Twilight Princess was developed mostly for the Gamecube, it will have graphics that suit it, but since it was ported to the Wii, you will probably notice that it doesn't have the graphics of other games on the platform. I personally like using the Gamecube controller as opposed to using the Wii remotes. But the decision is up to you.

I played the Game Cube version first and foremost, and I had a lot of fun with it. It was a familiar console, because I have played both Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time on it as well as the 64, and I don't think that I would like needing to learn an entire new set of controls. I have played it on the Wii, and I had a lot of fun. That could, however, be because it was at my friend's birthday party and I was hyped up on sugar. I can't give you a good comparison, but like many others have said, it's really up to you.

GC version is much better. Faster quickspins, no need to recharge them, link is left handed the way he should be and of course the awesome LJA glitch.

Well one thing thats for sure is that the GC version of TP is allot more expensiver and harder to get hold of then the Wii one.

I've played both versions, and I own the Wii version. I actually like the Wii version more than the GC one, probably because it was the first game I got on the Wii (apart from Wii Sports) and I thought it was really cool. I liked the controls and the interaction as well, though I can see the flaws of them. They dont really ruin the experience for me.

TP rules on any platform anyway.

Buy the Wii. Trust me, once you play it for the first couple of days, you'll like it way better than the Gamecube. I've played both versions, and I liked the wii version better.

Gamecube, because that is what TP was originally intended for. It was EPIC for GC, but on Wii it was kind of so-so.

Get a Wii, but not for TP. TP wii is really fun, but buying a wii for that game would be stupid. Besides, you can still play your GC TP on the wii.

Wii is better but don't buy it just for TP after all there's Super Mario Galaxy Metroid and other games worth playing.

If you plan on doing any Speedrunning of some sorts, the GCN version is the only way to go. This is because (Like ZFG said) of the Long Jump Attack, which shaves off loads of time. Also, one thing I didn't like about the Wii Version of TP was the lack of the Free Camema. It's really useful when you need to get a good look at your surroundings, and unlike in Windwaker where once you tap the C-Stick it stays facing that direction, the camera will slowly drift back behind you once you start moving.
